Sandy Lerner

Sandy Lerner animal  advocate?

Sandy Lerner's animals NEED an advocate.

Help spread the word about the pigs abused and neglected at Certified Humane Ayrshire Farm in Upperville VA. I worked there and what goes on is horrific. The farm owner Sandy Lerner is going to court for criminal animal cruelty based on a criminal complaint I made because Loudoun County Animal Services refuses to publically acknowledge the abuse or press charges. Please post and help raise awareness.

I'm sorry for the graphic images of the pigs from Ayrshire Farm but need to show the extent of the problem. Untreated pigs with mange, pig lice, severe internal parasites, coccidia, etc. Not one vet was called to the farm during my 9 months working there to examine a pig. A vet never looked at any of these pigs.

  1. Meredith, you removed my posts about Sandy Lerner that cited facts because you are a fraud. You will be decimated in court, and rightly so. Lerner’s managers may be bad, even criminal. But not Sandy Lerner. The few examples you cited of animal abuse are statistically irrelevant among thousands of animals. Too bad Sandy Lerner has $100 million + an 800 acre spread, and you got...what?

    1. I didn't remove any comments. There is a comment in my inbox that is not shown. I'll screen shoot it and post.

Sandy Lerner is indeed aware of what is going on at the farm. The past abuses and neglect, the abuse and neglect I documented, and more. All the management and staff remain. Want to explain that? You admit they are bad and maybe criminal...and they remain. Sandy will have to answer per state code that specifically cites the responsibility of the livestock owner.

Statistically irrelevant? Every pig is important. That sentence is frankly disgusting and excuses animal abuse as long as it's in the minority.

      Not on my watch.

Sandy has money and is also an unethical subhuman piece of shit that has not one of her current or former employees respect. She is the laughing stock of her own farm.

Sandy has more than an 800 acre spread, she has 3 farms in Loudoun County alone. Know what she really has though? Nothing. Not family, not friends, an unsuccessful financial failure of a farm. She has a fancy barn studio where she wear a her cat slippers and make a trinkets with beads and is lonely.

Sandy Lerner was immediately fired from the company she co-founded when it went public. She was later successfully sued by her business partner of Urban Decay in a civil suit where Sandy tried to swindle her out of her rightful half of the company.

Now she will have to defend herself in court for the animal cruelty she is very aware occurs.

Again...the same managers and staff are employed. Sandy Lerner cares about her ego. She doesn't give 2 shits about animals or people.

    2. Still not true Meredith. I posted the same comment 5 times, which you deleted 5 times. Fine, your blog, your rules. But I saved PDF copies of each post I made, each showing the time posted, and "Your comment was posted".

You are confusing pet animals with farm animals. While each are considered property under the law, farm animals are raised to be killed and eaten as food. Think about that. The judge (and jury, if any) likely enjoys eating farm animals himself/herself. Judges are very temperamental. Your case has the potential to personally offend the judge, either as a threat to his/her food supply, or laying a guilt trip on the judge for eating farm animals. (in addition to your personal traits the court may find offensive; its called contempt of court, and can be punished by incarceration.)

Courts of law are established to maintain the status quo. Judges favor the strong party. For you to overturn the status quo/strong party, you must have an excellent case, presented by competent and diligent counsel. The few examples you cited of animal abuse are statistically irrelevant among thousands of animals, FROM A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE.

The Right to Farm Act protects Ayrshire Farms in the operation of the farm and all of the agricultural management practices employed by the farm.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-to-farm_laws

In of State of New Jersey v. ISE America, a poultry company…was convicted of cruelly discarding live chickens in trash cans.

      http://isecruelty.com/aboutise.php

The conviction was appealed and overturned, partly on the grounds that [the company] had only six employees overseeing 1.2 million laying hens, and with workers each left to tend two hundred thousand creatures it remained unproven they were aware of those particular birds dying in a trash can. The company’s initial defense, offered to [the] Judge … by an attorney … asserted outright that this is exactly what the birds were anyway-trash:

[Attorney]: " We contend, Your Honor, that clearly my client meets the requirements [of the law]. Clearly it’s a commercial farm. And clearly the handling of chickens, and how chickens are discarded, falls into agricultural management practices of my client. And we’ve … litigated this issue before in this county with respect to my client and how it handles its manure….

[The Court]: Isn’t there a big distinction between manure and live animals?

[Attorney]: No, Your Honor. Because the Right to Farm Act protects us in the operation of our farm and all of the agricultural management practices employed by our firm."

As I wrote in my post that you deleted five times, this is not a criticism. (just the facts)

If I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to apologize, and kiss your ass in Macy’s window.

    3. I don't moderate comments, I don't read them and pick yes or no before they are published.

In fact the one I thought was yours that was not posted was actually another commenter and posted in a different blog entry.

If I deleted a comment a space holder with "comment deleted by blog administrator" would be visible. You are lying.

If there is a pdf copy take a screen shot of all the information you claim to have and the content and I will post it. Email it to meredithamonson@gmail.com.

There is a right to farm. There is not a right to abuse. In fact VA code defines animal abuse as a criminal offense.

Pets AND livestock are both protected under state code. How sad you think a farm animal has lead right to not be abused. Your comments are truly disgusting not just to myself but obviously to other readers and commenters as well.

Recalibrate your morals they are way off point.

      Offend a judge? Seriously?

I have a pro bono criminal defense lawyer who is a partner in the firm that has volunteered to assist and help in any way possible. Why? Because I have a case.

Waiting on you to send those screen shots of the 5 posts you are alleging I deleted.

    5. I just sent you the PDF files you requested. I also wrote, "You are wasting time and energy fighting with me because I am on your side. I agree that all animals should be treated as sentient beings, until they are humanely killed for human consumption. You are very emotional on this issue, that will not help in you court, where you have to be cool and calm. Glad to hear you have counsel representing you. That said, it appears you have a personal vendetta against Sandy Lerner. Have you met her in person? How much face time have you spent with Sandy? If she is as lonely as you claim, try being friends with her. Ask her to be your mentor. Sandy Lerner was very successful in the work world. High performance, successful people like Sandy Lerner are bound to make enemies, so I consider that in evaluating her firing from Cisco, and the other things you mentioned. With Sandy as your mentor, you two can work through this issue. Courts and lawsuits are generally not the answer, but you will learn that yourself. Even if you win at the trial court level, there will likely be an appeal. Cases can last for many, many years. Sandy Lerner has donated millions of dollars to animal welfare. It makes no sense that she abuses farm animals. Farmers of livestock know there will be dead stock. That is part of the statistically relevant number I referenced as part of the legal process. I hope you find peace in your life."

I would add, the knee-jerk responses to me are an indication you are not thinking clearly, but are controlled by emotion, anger, rage, and other such. I recall when your favorite pig was killed at Ayrshire Farms you became very distraught. Perhaps you should be a vegetarian. There is disharmony in concern for animals as sentient beings, then killing animals to eat them for pleasure and profit. Think about it, Meredith.

    6. I responded and will post the screen shots.

Mentor? Ayrshire Farm is a financial failure. There is no concern for state code or the ethical treatment of the animals. Mentor me in what?

I was distraught over my pigs that were slaughtered as well. People will always eat pork. Offering them a product that was humanely, ethically, and respectfully raised is my passion.

Going to the barn and seeing men trying to pull Belly off the trailer by his ears to weigh him was VERY upsetting.

    7. Meredith fraud, the crap you are spewing is mind-blowing. Judges rule on the law, not their personal dietary preferences. Right To Farm laws exist to protect farmers but they do not exempt them from out-and-out animal abuse. And all the kind words about Sandy Lerner? Unless you're her mother, just stop. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were trying to bait Meredith into saying something that could be used against her case.

Not a criticism has left a new comment on your post "Sandy Lerner":

This is not a criticism. But is it possible that Sandy Lerner relied to much on managers at Ayrshire Farm? Did those managers mislead Lerner? It appears Sandy Lerner is very wealthy, around $100 million. She is well educated. She does not fit the type of a greedy Scrooge hating on animals.

      Sandy Lerner
      http://www.insidephilanthropy.com/guide-to-individual-donors/sandy-lerner.html

OVERVIEW: When Bosack and his now ex-wife walked away from Cisco, they were compensated with $170 million in stock, which they used to create the Bosack/Kruger Foundation, endowing it with $34 million. Overall, they have donated more than 70% of the wealth they made from Cisco to charitable causes, and focus mainly on animal welfare, and scientific research.

BACKGROUND: Sandy Lerner’s parents divorced when she was young, and her father left Northern California for New York to pursue life as an artist, leaving Sandy to be raised by her aunt and uncle on a Northern California pear farm. She raised animals and drove a truck that was part of their supplemental heating business, coming home every weekend to help out while attending college at Chico State, where she studied political science. She then went on to get a master’s in econometrics from Claremont Graduate School, and a master’s in statistics and computer science from Stanford.

It was at Stanford that Lerner met Bosack, her future husband and business partner. Together, they co-founded Cisco Systems, which eventually became a giant in network services. After the company went public however, Lerner was eventually fired, and Bosack resigned in protest. Though they made a reasonable profit for the company, the $170 million in stock they received seems small for a company that soon grew to be worth more than $6 billion. Perhaps Lerner and Bosack would be worth more if they’d held on to their stock a while longer, but upset with what had happened, they decided to sell, and put most of the money toward charitable endeavors.
