Hey hay!

Plodding along until it struck me this person might load bales like Jenna Woginrich...so 'quickly pass, I did' or in normal talk, I quickly passed.

Damian Aspinall = amazing!

'In an ideal world, Aspinall would empty both his wildlife parks and return every animal to the wild. ‘The ultimate aim would be to send back all the animals that aren’t truly endangered,’ he says. ‘But some species — like black rhino — need protecting at the moment. If we can protect animals in the wild properly, then there’s no need for zoos. That’s got to be the ultimate aim. But that’s a 30-year dream.’

Slaugher - the S?

http://coldantlerfarm.blogspot.com/2013/06/slaughter-day.html?m=1

I cant imagine laughter on kill day.

I'm fairly new to slaughtering and butchering pigs, only having raised 5 myself...but what a solemn day it is. May I never take the S out of slaughter. so

Grandpop

He would have been 100 today.

Certainly missed.

I know where my love of animals and farming comes from!

Old family farm in Wisconsin, built in 1904 by my greatgrandmother and her 2 sisters.

Hemp

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/2940565

Crazy talk. Unreal such a safe valuable product is not legal to grow.

Raw milk? While consumers should have the right to choose, at the very least there are 2 sides to the story.

Hemp? Where is the possible harm?

Saying no for the sake of saying no...our government needs a semi swift kick in the ass.

Illegal not to grow, illegal, ban lifted encouraged to grow, illegal.  INSANE.

PA working horses

Watch "PA working horses" on YouTube

Quick glimpse of the not so rare PA working horse.  On the way to camping there was a detour which gave the opportunity to take a few miles of off the beaten path roads.

Pennsylvania is known for working horses.  Between the Amish, Mennonite, and PA Dutch presence it's more common than not to see horse and plow or horse and buggy if traveling more than 30 miles in any direction.

In many areas of the state vehicles are ever vigilant of the roads shoulder, always ready to give a wide girth of those traveling in more primitive fashion (same goes for those on bike or foot).

This video is poor as I did not want to get close/clear footage of the young gentleman without his permission. Some, such as the Amish, prefer not to be on video or photographed.  I'm not sure if this man was Amish or Mennonite, but I'd guess Mennonite based on the region we were in.

29 today (6/8)

My grandmother gifted me a beautiful quilt she made just for me!

Ditched the Worlds End State Park for camping a little less park ranger with a gunish (i've had a he'll of a time with authority recently, not setting myself up for an egomaniac encounter on my birthday!).

Found Pioneer Campgrounds...match made in heaven for the two of us.  By 'us' I reference myself and my finally found (haha, hold the cringe and eye rolling please, nah, go ahead) partner who my mind, heart, and soul has been waiting, searching, and sorting for. It's a precious story. When I'm not in such a place of awe and secrets ill share how we met.

The rare and elusive PA horse and buggy

http://coldantlerfarm.blogspot.com/2013/06/carts-chocolate.html?m=1

Jenna Woginrich grew up in Palmerton, PA less than 80 miles from Lancaster, PA...home of the horse and buggy.

Distance from Palmerton, PA to NYC's Central Park...about 100 miles.

She must have been raised with wool covered eyes.

Electricity

...the mighty demon.

http://coldantlerfarm.blogspot.com/2013/06/searching-for-ships.html?m=1

'There are places you can go where you can escape discomfort. There are places you can plug in machines to pretend weather doesn't exist. There are people who will tell you that humidity is a horrible thing and should be avoided at all costs. Do not go to those places, avoid plugs when you can, and never believe a liar. Because there is nothing more beautiful in this angry, scary world than a hundred fireflies in the dark of a lightening-kissed sky. Nothing.'

By all means Ms Woginrich, demonize the plug.  All the while sitting there with your ereader of choice, or perhaps writing one key stroke after another typing on a computer...or electronically advertising workshops or items for sale....to an INTERNET audience.

Some people read books and turn pages, others are found 'reading in the dark, in the glow of the e-reader's backlit screen', and many don't read at all.

For the ereader to preach plug avoidance? Well, we agree on one thing.  Never believe a liar...or hypocrite, or especially those who practice one thing while preaching another.

Do in fact avoid those types at all costs.
