Where is my award?

Per Jenna Woginrich

Drove home from a dinner party in my 1989 Ford F-150 in 2 inch heels. Where is my award?

9:22pm - 14 Nov 15

She drove to a party wearing shoes and wants an award?

What would be most fitting...Nobel peace prize? A Grammy? Golden Globe? An Oscar?

Good grief Jenna...LOOK at all these comments. You have a HUGE audience. You could be making a real name for yourself and creating a true brand and profiting off your land, creativity, and imagination if you applied yourself!

People are watching this life you are voluntarily publicizing. Take advantage of it...not them.

The people tweets like that are trying to impress wear 3 inch heels to the office daily and drove 1989 and beyond vehicles all through the 80s, 90s, etc.

No one gets it.

You want an award for going to a party?

    2. I'm a graphic artist, freelance for 21 years. Raise sheep and angora goats for fiber sales, spin and weave. Write blog, write articles, working on a book. Play in a bluegrass band. Raise and breed registered, pedigreed American Guinea Hogs... (Love them! You would love them Meredith!) My young adult daughters work from home, their own businesses. One creates rock and mineral kits for kids all over the country. The other, woodworking and vinyl sign creation. We run 4 etsy shops and I personally maintain over 25 websites for us and our clients. No menfolk around. Just us gals. ;-) Big garden, can and preserve, simple living. Homesteading on 3 acres. Own our own farm and land... bought an old foreclosure and totally redid it all. Tough, but worth it. Hauled water for 4 months in winter when our well went out, for us and the farm animals from a natural spring nearby. Have done nearly all the repairs ourselves. We make do or do without.

Used to be so impressed with our gal J... but then slowly, just started to see past the curtain. Donated several times, fell for all the flowery phrases and weekly emergencies... now, just feel sad. Wish she'd get back on track. Just sad.

    5. Thanks you guys... but we don't feel comfortable doing workshops or retreats until we feel we are ready and have achieved many more goals. We are still struggling and every day is a challenge, but we don't whine and beg, we just getter' done. Before we bought this place, we had lost our lovely big poodle home in the burbs... And that is a very difficult thing to go through. Especially on top of divorce with two young children. Every person's story is different and has it's own set of challenges. I think it's why I don't understand J anymore and shake my head. She's hardly the only gal out there trying to homestead and farm. There are ooooodles of us! And we all have tough luck stories and contentment stories and times with the wolf is at the door. It's just most of us deal with it as adults. It's called life.

  5. This summer I took care of all my poultry and tended a 35×60 garden (which is still feeding our family) pregnant. And then gave birth in July . The day we got home from the hospital my incubator came in the mail. I set eggs a week later. Did all my normal canning, poultry harvesting and cider making this fall. Wear lipstick every day. Getting ready for deer hunting. Where's my gold star?

  6. Walked the dog today and graded 26 papers. Wrote a bit on a novel. Stared in the mirror and contemplated whether I needed emergency remediation of the Bad Haircut. Decided to live with it, hair grows. Marinated chunks of steak from the meat CSA for dinner. Tried and failed to fix the broken garbage disposal. Did research online about how to fix garbage disposals. Continued to fail at fixing the disposal. Laughed at my first world problem and realized I'd be doing without a disposal until my emergency reserve built up again. Where's my award? I'd like it in cash please

    ReplyDelete
  7. I fixed our disposal by making sure it was turned off, then sticking the end of the broom down in disposal (until it feels like it is in front of or behind one of the steel ridges) Then grab broom (the part not in the disposal) firmly. Jerk broom backward then forward-twice. Fixed! I found a video on YouTube last year and it worked like a charm. What was wrong with my disposal is the single most common problem with disposals. If you haven't tried this, you might want to. Good Luck!

If you don't like how she lives her life (which btw is none of your business), then don't watch her videos or read her blog. You all seem obsessed with her tho....is is jealousy?

I am guessing all of you, even the anonymous posters are women. Why bash each other? Did you ever think maybe Jenna doesn't like how you live your lives? I don't recall seeing her posting on a regular basis about this blog, blogger, or any of the rest of you. You girls obviously need to get lives. As women we should be supporting each other not tearing each other down. You all sound like mean girls in high school. Sad...really sad.

    2. Kristine - I get where you're coming from. You sound like you have a good heart. But what Jenna really needs from you is not your defense, but your money.

If you really want to help her, send lots and lots of your hard earned money. Her mortgage is late and her fences need repairing. She is so hard up, she cannot afford a box of Equal, so must swipe it from the gas station.

She said she would rather live under a bridge than get a job, so in order for her to live her life, her fans must support her. Her workshops and logos don't bring in enough for her to live the life she has become accustomed to.

Are you willing to support her? Are you willing to go to work and do without some things, finance someone else's dreams? Are you willing to pay for a product that either arrives late or not at all?

Are you willing to pay her vet bills, dental bills and truck repairs?

Some people here have been ripped off. Others have donated out of generosity, only to see the money frittered away.

We come here to vent. We do not vent on her blog. And if we can prevent someone from losing money to her, we have done our job.

    3. We know Jenna doesn't like how some live their lives, because she's constantly blogging about how better she is than everyone else! HA!

I worked 50 hours last week at my home business, took care of my flock of fowl, cleaned out my (large) coop, moved compost/poop around the garden area, did final yard cleanup before it starts snowing, filled up the truck and went to the dump (in 2" heels), split wood and filled up my wood box in the house multiple times, and dealt with my freshman college student's angst. Where's my award???????

  17. Oh, Kristine. Obviously you haven't been around Jenna's blog very long (or this one) or you would know why we are here. Our issues with her are:

    1) Jenna over the years has multiple times; over and over again taken money from people for products or services that were never delivered. In my world, this is called premeditated stealing.

    2) She neglects her animals, sometimes to death.

    3) And yes, it is everyone's business when she posts her entire life on a public blog.

Some of us are pissed off because she ripped us off; many are mad about her mistreatment of animals.

So, change the channel if you don't like it here. We have a right to express ourselves on a blog, too.

  18. I have read Jenna's blog and more of hers than yours. I have seen where #1 has happened. But from what I remember is was a CSA? Most of them are at your own risk if a crop fails or other tragedy occurs. Not saying this was the case but I understand your anger. But come on, it happened how long ago? You are beating a dead horse.

For your 2nd point. Can you point out some specifics? I haven't see this mentioned on her blog or maybe I haven't gone back far enough. It looks like most of you have "farms" and animals. Have you never lost any?

Your 3rd point. It's called being a bully. Let me ask you this simple question, If someone pointed out your crooked teeth, that ugly sweater your wore in that picture, or how you are begging for money to fight some farm you think is abusing animals on a weekly if not daily basis would you be ok with it since you posted it on the interweb?

Maybe step back and see where you focus your time and just maybe you will see there are better places to focus your energy. Like your sick dogs. Should people assume it's abuse because they are sick? Are you not taking care of them properly? Do you see how this can get misconstrued?

    1. Her ripping people off has nothing yo due with the risk of a CSA. Nothing happened to her sheep that prevented her from delivering the product. Nothing is preventing her from delivering graphic design work or logos to customers who have already paid. Nothing is keeping her from creating and distributing the webinars people paid for (people paid for 12 and she delivered one...but can vlog all day long? Please explain that). People paid for Birchthorn and she has already failed to meet her delivery obligation. What else am I missing?

Her animals don't die because they are untreatable and sick, they die because of poor husbandry and neglect. Those who are sick abd refused treatment should be immediately euthanized. Jennas sheep die slowly over days and weeks.

Numerous examples have been outlined here.

Hell she gets her rocks off watching her dogs terrorize her poultry that drop like flies from predation.

It's only a matter of time before her sheep or horse seriously injure someone because she's too busy playing to take responsibility of her own animals.

By your comments it's clear you don't own livestock so her excuses and reasons are accepted by you...the entire farming community is disgusted by this woman.

If you want to dog me for fundraising to help the fight against Ayrshire Farms abuse and Loudoun County's failure to hold a celebrity account able for criminal behavior have at it.

You don't have an issue with animal abuse or you don't have the knowledge to see it as such. Feel free to defend animal abuse here. Its an open forum.

      Delete
    2. The difference is what my animals get sick from is NOT preventable.

When they do get sick I treat them.

When their time comes I humanely euthanize.

      How is that not clear?

      Delete
    3. Or I could pull a Jenna and do nothing while blogging about down immobile animals half dead suffering in the field for days as they slowly die.

Jenna has said time and time again her animals aren't worth the cost of treatment and she does not humanely euthanize them....that equals neglect.

    4. Don't forget the clan. She hasn't posted there in months. The last time she did she said she would start posting there again once Birchthorn was written. I didn't pay for Birchthorn,I paid $65 for a blog. That's a rip off.

  19. Jenna consistently begs for money, has promised services that many people pay for and she does not deliver (15k for Birchthorn kickstarter that is 6 months late with no end date in sight), and regularly neglects her animals. Do your homework there are many examples. Begging for $1000 to have a root canal and then getting a $1000 puppy instead is a good example. I think most of us here have either been ripped off by her and/or are alarmed at her horrible treatment of animals (that she can't bother to properly shelter & keep fenced in).
Add in her holier than thou attitude and it's enough for us to NEED a place to vent. It's not mean if it's true. Jenna is a lazy lying mentally ill theif.

  21. So I got under your skin huh. Good. How does it feel for someone publicly poking you?

Yes I do have live stock and have had horses in the past, thanks for the assumption. For your sake, I wouldn't group the entire farming community in your ideals. Not everyone agrees with how you are handling your anger with one person. I also live in Amish Country and am very familiar with livestock escaping. It doesn't happen often and sometimes can be deadly for the animals and people. Should I go around bashing them? I think not.

I still don't get your abuse issue though. I haven't seen the post in which you are referencing her dogs and poultry. I did see her piece on getting the pigs drunk. I guess since she is a farmer she should have just known this was not good practice, right? I saw a show years ago about monkeys that waited for the fruit to drop and ferment so they could eat and get their drunk on. Totally forgot about it until I saw her video. It's was an innocent mistake on her part. She learned and hasn't done it again right?

I'm sure you and your entourage live perfect lives. And that is wonderful. You never paid a bill late, ran short on money, or even went speeding while driving your car.

Don't we all wish we could live perfect little lives like apparently all of you do. Well go on and bully away. I'm sure there's some sort of loop hole in your freedom of speech argument. Now if she asked for funding for a lawyer....I may just have to give her some.

Enjoy the rest of high school.....

    3. Actually, Jenna has a longer history if not delivering on promised services our products. I believe if you lookup Oakpaw- I think that is her deviant art name - you will likely find the numerous complaints about people ordering art, paying for it, then being ignored by her. So her track record for being basically a manipulative scam artist is lengthy at this point.

People here have varying issues with her behaviors and need a place to commiserate and vent. Because it surely falls on deaf ears or is used as manipulation to rile up her supporters if it's placed on her blog comments section.

      Delete
    4. Kristine, if you look back on JWs blog you will see that what you characterize as "innocent mistakes" happen again and again. Every single year she loses a significant percentage of her chickens to predation, but instead of making their housing more secure simply buys more and more chicks so she still has a good cull even after the predators are done ripping some to shreds. That is not an innocent mistake, that is cruel beyond imagining, not to mention financially wasteful. The fact that she left her sheep Maude out in the field to die because she was just too upset to do anything else (euthanize it herself or call a vet) is not an innocent mistake it is cruel -- she did the exact same thing with a lamb who could not walk several months earlier. She brought it inside, tried to nurse it back to health and when that did not work plunked it down in the field until it was dead. If your animals escape your property on a regular basis, that is not an innocent mistake either -- once or twice, sure, but not several times a month. That is neglect. If you can't humanely euthanize an animal yourself (simple shot to the head), and cannot afford to call the vet, do not own livestock! Those are my main issues with her, the financial stuff is also awful but at least there are no animals suffering. All her mistakes have now happened too many times for them to 1) be called "innocent" or 2) to even be called mistakes -- they are now planned for and expected occurrences. That's kind of sick in my opinion.

    5. You can go through the archives of her blog and see what we are talking about. If you're truly interested, you will do just that. You will see for yourself that a blog started 8 years ago, the writer makes the same mistakes over and over and over again.

The chickens kept in ways that make them easy for predators to access.

The sheep constantly escaping from poorly built fences.

The pigs left to overwinter outside with a few haybales.

Maude, the sheep she professed to care about so much, left to waste away in the field for three days with no veterinary care while Jenna wrote about her angst online. That's the one that sent me over the edge. I've dealt with sick animals before. I know how gut wrenching it can be to come to the realization that an animal is too far gone to save. But I then choose to do the humane thing and put the animal down. I would never leave them in pain in a field dying slowly. Ever.

  22. I don't know why anyone here feels the need to defend themselves to Jenna's apologists. Jenna's blog and social media speak for themselves. As an author freely producing content intended to be consumed by the public it's inconceivable to expect that content not to be discussed.

It's also incredibly repulsive that anyone would be eager to poke holes in the First Amendment for the purpose of protecting one person's ego.

  23. It also bothers me when someone says something like "as women you should be supportive of other women" as if lending a critical voice towards another woman is hurtful of the whole women's movement. Let's not forget several black entertainers declined to speak against Bill Cosby because they felt like it would be damaging the Black Cause to do so, and so he raped and raped again. Several have some forward and said they wished they had come forward earlier. Nothing's more expensive than regret. There should NEVER be rules about not calling out someone based on their gender, race or religion. A fraud is a fraud, and neglect is neglect no matter what.

  25. Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Where is my award?":

I'm not going to get into animal abuse yay or nay--that's an impossible can of worms to prove one way or another. But there's no doubt that she's failed to deliver on multiple products. I paid $65 to become a clan member because she promised access to a blog with additional content--at least one substantive post a week. That blog has been abandoned since July. When questioned about it, Jenna said that she couldn't update the clan blog because she was focusing on Birchthorn. Birchthorn is already months late--bound books were due to backers in August--and she's now promised a PDF of the completed novelette (it went from being a novel to a novelette) by "Yuletide." I have my doubts that this is going to happen, or that backer will ever see actual books, but time will tell. I also purchased a webinar subscription a couple of years ago for $300. Only one webinar was delivered, and no refund was forthcoming even after I contacted her several times and asked for one. Jenna said that she didn't have the equipment for video editing, so she couldn't do the webinars. First, that obviously should have been checked out before launching a new business project. Second, if that WERE the case she should have refunded everyone their money immediately. And third, obviously she now HAS video equipment, because she's producing those inane vlogs every two seconds. But Jenna is terrible on followthrough--she has big ideas, and she never manages to do the hard work to deliver on them. She obviously has a form of ADD, but her exact diagnosis isn't as important to me as receiving my products. I can promise you this--Birchthorn is the last straw for me. If I don't have a copy in my email by 12/25, I'm launching an all-out social media war to inform everyone of her fraudulent practices.

  28. Kristine, I found this blog because I went to Jenna's blog after I read a couple of her books and enjoyed them and wanted the real-world "epilogue." Maybe you did too? I thought "Chick Days" was a very decent if basic chicken-keeping primer. So I found the chicken care she now describes on her blog really unsettling. If I were her publisher I'd be mad as hell that my how-to author now gives up gems like this:

"The tractors are not fortresses and I do expect to lose some to predators, which is why I raise double what I plan on harvesting. Chicks are pretty cheap and I would rather spend another fifty bucks on double the little ones and not worry about such possibilities." (Jenna's comment on her blog post "Tractors!" 5/10/15)

Expecting a 50 percent loss! Financially crazy, and consider what that says about how much she respects the lives of her animals. I found this cavalier attitude so galling that I literally Googled "Jenna Woginrich irresponsible," expecting a public flogging from her publisher, and I landed here. I was relieved that I wasn't the only person who thought that she has gone off the rails since the publication of her early books.

Some of the comments made here are unkind and unnecessary. But not all of them. And I don't see them as the mean girl or bullying behavior that you mentioned, since that is usually associated with status jockeying and and/or wielding power against a person. If there's one thing that's clear, it's that in this power struggle Jenna is winning. The more she lets livestock escape, suffer, and die, the more support she gets, because she's woven it into a completely false farm life narrative. For a high school analogy, it feels more to me like how people complain about the kid who cheats on the test and gets away with it, over and over and over again. People are sometimes charmed by the audacity of it at first, but eventually they get pissed by the profound unfairness of it all.

If we create a safe environment on any one of these threads for people to come forward and tell their story-they will. The reason so many crimes in general are allowed to go on and on not prosecuted is because the victims fear judgment, persecution or shame. I'm just saying this in case someone, anyone on this thread, feels the need to tell their story but is afraid to be judged harshly because they bought into an internet scam.

Victims- file complaints. File with the links on this thread provided. Visit and update coldantlersham site. I urge you to follow through and not listen to people who give you zero hope. That allows people who rip off the unknowing to continue to do so.

I once filed a complaint against an ebay seller for $29.99 and filed an internet fraud complaint with a site designated for internet fraud. Eventually because others complained, the FBI visited this fraudster. I was told recently by someone who works for a site regarding internet fraud that they look for a pattern, a consistent pattern of fraud + monetary is taken into consideration. Keep filing, there is great hope this will eventually come to an end.

  37. One thing she did post to the Clan blog over the summer was the prologue and outline to her proposed Merlin book. I wish you all could read it--it's just rambling, narcissistic garbage, full of self-help buzzwords and without any real narrative structure. In my judgment, it's absolutely unpublishable.

  38. Dear Kristine
Yes I do not have a life, I like to complain about the lying stealing JW, She is a pro of taking the money but when you ask "where is my product" that I paid for and she hems and haws and it is now you responsibility to nag her for either the product or your money back, that type of personal irresponsibility from a self-proclaimed and published FARMER is beyond the pail. This blog would not have anything to say if she wasn't a conniving fraud and absolute charlatan.
Now you Kristine, you really have no life because you wade into these waters claiming the high road, defending the fraudster and playing the pity card. As Trump would say Kristine "You're Fired!" now go back and send JW a wad of cash and play your Anna Kendrick video's, enjoy your high horse, and just send love notes to your freakin guru - hare rama!

  39. I have to say that this thread disgusts me somewhat. I completely understand those who are upset with Jenna's behaviors when it comes to the fraud, financial scandals, and animal abuse. This thread, however, starts from a point of personal shaming over what one person chooses to wear on her feet, the vehicle she drives around town, and her flaunting of that. Asking for an "award" for wearing heels and driving a truck is admittedly childish, but how does it harm any of you here, or anywhere? It is an attack on her personality (show of hands, please, from those of you who possess perfect personas), not her erroneous actions. Dragging Kristine through the mud for having a different point of view from the regular blog-pack is no different from the way Jenna sometimes inflicts her fans on commenters who disagree with her ideas. I thought this was a blog where "all opinions are welcome." Clearly, not always.

These things don't right with me. At all. If you all want to drag me through the mud next, my name is Beth, just so we all know who you're referring to.

  40. You have a right to your opinion. I think more than once Meredith has stated that no posts are removed. All opinions welcome. That said Kristine has a right to her opinion and also to come back and defend it. She came on to this personal blog and began accusing the posters of being mean girls, of being jealous and admittedly stated she had not read JW's entire blog before opening her mouth. Perhaps this thread is not perfect, but as you say, neither you nor apparently any of us are perfect. It's on someone's personal blog available for public consumption. The author of this blog is kind enough to continue to let ALL opinions be stated.

If in the middle of a thread that is titled not so perfect there is good information, useful content and warnings about internet scams- my opinion is the good far outweighs the bad. This again is a personal blog that has many interesting threads. If you have not taken the time, as Kristine hadn't, I would recommend you begin reading it. Yes you will find many threads with victims commiserating over their loss of $- of which I hope they still believe they can at least have the person who stole it from them account for it. You will also find people who offer verbatim proof of animal abuse, neglect and death of which we all hope will stand as a testament to what is currently going on. Everyday there are newcomers- new readers to JW's books, people who have been newly scammed or that have found a place they can come to where they can vent. If you don't have a dog in this fight why are you here? If you do have a dog in this fight please state your reason for being here. I'm here because I've been scammed out of money and want recourse. I also want the animal neglect-well documented to stop. While all opinions are welcome, it doesn't mean that we all have to agree with them or that we cannot state our own back. I didn't see anyone here get drug down in the mud, including Kristine, if you can provide a good example go for it.

    1. I've been reading both blogs for many years. I am here because while I never fell for any of Jenna's scams, I'm concerned that others will continue to end up the sucker. But immoral/illegal behavior (fraud, scams, animal abuse) are different than merely foolish/childish behavior (asking for awards for driving a retro truck in fancy shoes). Focusing on the latter only detracts from your arguments for the former, and won't get you your money back.

  41. Hi Beth -
The reason I think the 2" heels commentary is funny is because just last summer Jenna Woginrich was making fun of people like those women that wear makeup and heels. She had a whole blog post about 'poodles' and came down much in favor of a simple makeup free, no muss, no fuss, look. She was looking down her nose at those who wore makeup, heels, clean clothes, etc. To now see her embracing the femininity she recently bashed is just funny.
    Just my opinion anyway.

  42. Yes. After spending two whole paragraphs on this "poodle" woman she was describing, she starts out paragraph three with: "So I had absolutely no interest in this woman's lifestyle..."

    Snort. Really??????

  43. I think Kris and Beth offer valuable advice. We should definitely hold Jenna accountable and this blog at least serves as a testament that all is not right on CAF. But I do think the criticism should really be about perceived fraud and the abuse of animals that she obliquely details. Her looks, celebrity and music fetishes, her recipes and her hygiene are all obvious and need no comment, my 2 cents! You can call me Wendy

    1. AMEN! This is what I was the point I was trying to make. You may have a legit reason to be mad as she took your money and didn't deliver. Ok, bitch about that. But you cross the line when you attack someones character. I'm sure she has a lot going on and you only see a glimpse into her life via facebook, youtube, etc. And you are construing your opinion based on that.

But your complain is theft. Not her looks, lifestyle, writing style or anything else. Keep your argument about that.

None of us are here to place any judgement on another. And that's not being on a "high horse" as one of you put it. It's being kind and fair. I don't like being judged. You don't know me or what has happened in my past or present so you have no right to an opinion. Even if I do put it on the web?

I also want to point out that I NEVER said I was a Jenna supporter. You put words in my mouth/keyboard. I have not had any issues with Jenna. I actually enjoy watching her videos and reading her blog. Apparently most of you watch and read her too....you can sure discuss what she has to say. ;)

And in reply to the posts below, just because SNL and others make fun of so called celebrities doesn't make it right.

Keep on task with your argument. The theft. Nothing more.

    2. Cross the line when you attack someone's character?!

      Line crossed.

Attacking her (lack of) character is exactly what I'm doing and intend to continue to do.

      Delete
    3. Of course attacking her character is fair. It's the whole point. If she had even a smidge of character she wouldn't be ripping people off or allowing sick animals to croak without the benefit of a swift end. You know who else I think is lacking in that department? Donald Trump. Would you silence negative commentary about him as well?

    5. Some of the posts do go off the topic of the legal issues-receiving money without delivering a product and the moral issues of allowing publicly an animal to suffer and others to be neglected- running loose, not being sheltered, improper space etc. That said in any case you build whether legal or otherwise against someone you need to look to the persons character. That's why in court character witnesses are brought in, as well as the judge and jury both looking at the accused to see if said crime etc. is a pattern in the persons character. JW publicly journals clear content describing her character. She clearly has a pattern, many patterns that have played out throughout the years. She has had prejudices that as a public person with 3000 or more listeners she has made public. Women who dress nicely, wear lipstick, buy coffee anywhere (and not make their own) people who eat meat, people who don't eat meat, women who wear high heels and work in an office, people who walk their dogs, mothers of children, babies and on and on about how she feels about just about every demographic in the universe. She has publicly stated how negatively she feels about any one of these demographics and more. The posts you have been reading are likely the posters here calling her out on her hypocrisy and her flip flop attitude towards things she has previously made fun of and spoke negatively about. Some of the things she has posted about women in general have been very sexist and very stereotypical. And then suddenly come late summer early fall she's in high heels asking viewers what shade of lipstick works best and where to order mascara from.

I don't personally need to know where's she's been and everything she has been through in her life to see the blatant hypocrisy in her public posts over the past year.

They show her character, something that will be taken into consideration when she one day has to account for taking people's money without delivering services or goods.

Now if you think it's disgusting then again I ask, why are you here? Have you had money taken from you without a service or good delivered. Did you donate to Birchthorn, as I did, and are still waiting its delivery. Or are you here to point out what bad people some of the posters are and make like you are better than that- only to end your post so unforgiving of human nature.

There are hurt people here. Hurt people vent. Sometimes some of it goes way off course and could be deemed childish, yes. But 95% of the posts here are legit posts by people who are hurt. People waiting for reimbursement, people hoping the shit show will end. People hoping that other people will stop donating to someone who fritters the money away. No one here is an ugly person. That is truly not a nice thing to say. Everyone here that has been hurt deserves to be heard. I think everyone here on this blog would gladly go without ever receiving our $ reimbursed if only the neglect to those poor animals would stop. They deserve so much better than what they've received. JMHO

  44. Public figures are often mocked. SNL wouldn't exist without this everyday activity. Hypocrites are usually mocked more. People who urge others to donate their hard earned money to support their lifestyle are usually held in particular contempt. You may not remember Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, a married televangelist couple, but that woman was derided more for her appearance than anything else.
Many of us here think that Jenna Woginrich holds herself to be an expert in things she is not, and also think that she uses trite ploys to garner donations to keep her "farm." (as opposed to working). At this point we've noticed flaws in her narrative, and repetition of buzzwords that bring in the cash.
Most of all, though, we've seen animals neglected, sometimes to death. Kristine - you said you've dealt with horses. Would you let a young foal, just separated from its mother, be chased inside an enclosure by a much larger animal until it mysteriously died? If so, Cold Antler Farm blog is just right for you.
After all that's been written here and on Jenna's multiple other sites, people have all the information they need to make a determination on whether Woginrich is defensible. If they think it is, well, we've got little in common. Cold Antler doesn't represent anything I admire, except for talent at self-promotion and writing.

  45. That is one thing I like about this blog. Generally, although we have our moments poking fun at the inconsistencies that is Jenna, we stick to her fraudulent business practices and animal neglect/abuse. I've rarely witnessed personal attacks on her looks, weight, etc. (which she herself points out).

I've commented a time or two on her blog and once or twice on FB. On FB I was promptly attacked and flogged by both Jenna and her rabid fans for nothing more than posting a slightly differing view and a suggestion I put forth. I see nothing like that here.

I was the one that commented above about her "not caring" about the poodle, but I do think that such wild swings in her personality and views could also contribute to the general chaos that exists at CAF. I find the blatant and not-so-blatant passive aggressive jabs by her toward anyone whose views differ from hers a bit disturbing. Just IMO.

  46. I bought Made From Scratch and was a Jenna fan. I followed her on Facebook and Twitter for several years and found myself getting frustrated with the increasing lack of content and constant crisis begging. I noticed her getting $$$ for a crisis but then buying vinyl, stupid tshirts, a puppy, etc almost immediately afterwards.
Her disdain for people who have day jobs, who wear makeup, who have dog strollers, who do meditation coloring books really offended me. The lack of adequate shelter for her animals, the shrugging of her shoulders about animals escaping, animals dying...I just kept reading in disbelief not able to believe she is this heartless, this clueless. No desire to do learn and do better.
The repeated ripping off of people who paid for her services. Anyway, Jenna mentioned on FB one day her frustration with this blog. Out of curiousity I came here and was so happy to realize I'm not alone.
I wish I could walk away and never read Jenna's blog/FB but I'm just waiting to read about the happy day when the karma bus hits her and she isn't able to harm another animal or rip off another person or do another crappy logo sale again. Until that day I'll be here. I'm thankful to Meredith for providing a great place to vent!

  47. I don't see that Kristine was dragged through the mud. She got as well as she gave, which is to say it was an all around tame exchange. I'm personally not interested in arguing with Jenna's supporters -- if I were, I could simply call her out on her FB page and fight with a few hundred of her closest friends. I'm here to chat with like-minded people, not change anyone's mind.

I like this blog as it is. Lampooning self-absorbed assholes is fun. She's a shallow, narcissistic, snob who's completely out of touch with the rest of the world. She's turned her life into a reality show through her blog and social media, actively seeking to engage the public in her "story". I find her hypocrisy absolutely hilarious. Her manipulations fascinating. The relationship with her fans, just plain bizarre. I keep tuning in for the next bit of weird.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey. A reality show without paying for cable. I'm in!

  49. I came here after she bought a horse she couldn't pay for, at a time when she came home from work to find the repo man had been at the farm. Then she posted a hysterical plea, talking about waking up in a cold sweat and having a panic attack. Then she deleted that post and quit her job. I'm also grateful for Meredith. She's been incredibly open minded.

I've also noticed over time, that the traffic seems to go one way. People stop believing in Jenna's honesty and come here, but they don't ever change their mind and go back to CAF and give money or support to Jenna. So, if you're really committed to supporting Jenna, don't hang around us, we might change your mind. It's happened before.

  50. The 2" heal discussion is in direct response to how much Jenna purports to hate that "poodle" look, along with makeup and perfect hair, and clothes (which she has done a 180 on now). She insults a demographic and then becomes one. Still though, as someone alluded to earlier, our issue is with her $$ scams and her neglect of her animals and it is ALL from her own fingertips.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What with the contact lenses, hair dye, mascara, lipstick and heels, the farm is morphing from Cold Antler to Green Acres, dahlings.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I like to come here and chat about Jenna's inconsistencies because for a long time I thought I was alone in my head-scratching, wondering if I was the only one that saw them.

Turns out I wasn't. And Jenna's blog is not a safe place to ask real, honest questions. If it was, you can bet I would be over there asking why the 180 on appearance stuff? Why did she shift from I shower once or twice a month, wear a kilt every day and muddy, stinky boots to I dye my hair, wear make-up and heels? Why did she suddenly become that which she thoroughly derided?

I have a guess of course (there's a man on the scene), but she would never answer that question nor allow it to appear on her blog, unless she wanted to make a point about it and then allow her followers to castigate me.

    So I come here.

It's not making fun of her. To me it's more about looking at each other and saying "What the hell is going on? Are you seeing this? Didn't she just say..."

    You can call me Lee.

  53. I think the difference between us and bullies is that we all would be genuinely happy for Jenna if she turned things around. I think we all started out admiring her and it sure would be nice to get back to that point.

If, starting today, she lived her life with honesty and integrity (no crisis begging, taking care of her animals, getting a job to pay back the people she ripped off) and wrote actual content on her blog without putting people down or patting herself on her back (where's my award)...I would really be impressed and would cheer for her.

  65. Heifer International is a great charity, for what it's worth. My grandfather owned a dairy farm in Pennsylvania and sent Holsteins over on boats to eastern Europe as part of the post-WWII reconstruction efforts there by Heifer Intl. Now the organization facilitates sustainable animal husbandry and agriculture practices within the regions in which they work.

I hate to see the name of a worthy organization invoked when it could easily lead to a tax double dip -- I have no doubt she'll take the tax deduction, then when she sends out the card describing the gift the recipient could mistakenly believe they can take it too. Ugh.

  66. "You get a printable voucher for a logo to be designed in 2016 ($300-500 regular price), a workshop pass for you and your gift ($200 value), and part of the money goes towards a family in need that can start raising livestock where farm animals are needed most."
    - That from Jenna's blog. So, you get a promise for a logo (we all know what her promises mean, so you get no logo), you get a workshop, unless the weather sucks, or the hens run away or some such and then you get credit only, no refunds!. And, "part" of the money goes toward HI. Whatcha bet it never happens, or it is $5.00. I think HI should be notified about this scam of hers- sullying their name as she will.

  69. It's all wonderful and good to be selling workshop passes, etc. for the stuff that supposedly goes on at CAF but.. what if in 2016 JW moves, JW finally loses the farm? JW cannot get licensed or insured to have said workshops- this is an assumption that licensing and insurance need to be taken care of before workshops can be held.

Where I live you cannot have guests for workshops unless you can provide adequate restroom and drinking facility. You also need to have the grounds insured. Not sure what is required for Washington County.

I mean those paying money in advance for anything 2016 are really gambling. Considering I stopped counting at 20 fire sales for logos this year, some time back. This is a piece of land whose owner has stated for over a year, I think going into 2 years now, that she is usually 3 months behind in her mortgage. She is also regularly stating her like did not get shut off this month and that the wolves are at the door. Investing in the stock market would be a better gamble than investing in something that by all counts has failed tremendously.

  70. I don't have time to look into the laws right now but I believe New York State requires those who solicit anything-donations, $ for events etc. to register and if not then to at least apply for a permit. Like I said I cannot be sure but I know here in MN you have to have a permit to solicit donations. Whether you are subtle about asking or downright direct doesn't matter.

An aside -when you donate to someone who accepts it through PayPal they can and do mark it as a gift. This precludes you from ever being able to write it off for taxes. If you give a $donation to someone that includes multiple services/goods with the idea that part of that donation will be given to charity- it is my belief that the receiver of said donation can write the entire amount off to said charity and then only give ( if even that happens) a portion of it to said charity to legitimize it.

I happen to know someone at HI that I am going to run this scenario past... and see if this is something that they would want to be done with their good name caught up in the middle.

  71. Once upon a time there was this girl that got sucked up in a nasty whirlwind, and ended up in a strange land she'd never seen before. There was a witch in the east. She had a bunch of little people, like munchkins or whatever, under her spell, and had them doing whatever she wanted. They seemed happy enough to do it. I mean, they were singing and marching all the time and stuff, and they seemed to willingly give the east witch anything and everything. It was pretty strange, but, you know, they're munchkins, how smart can they be? They didn't really seem to mind and all. Whatevah. Little people don't matter.

I didn't really know where I was and was kinda weirded out by all that witch-spell and munchkin business, so I kept walking. And then it got even more bizarre.

There was this other lady on the far side of the place. I'll just go ahead and call her the west witch, for clarification and stuff, so we all know who's who. She had an agenda, and I mean with a capital A, but no one really seemed to be able to figure out what it was. She had all these flying monkeys swirling around her, or maybe they were flying pigs, I'm not really sure. Can pigs even fly? It all seems like such a bizarre dream now. The monkey-pigs/pig-monkeys were always screeching about something. ALWAYS. Have you ever heard a pig-monkey screech? Seriously. You'll never get any sleep. They'll swoop down out of nowhere and start beating you around the head over the littlest damn things. Nobody's ever good enough for pig-monkeys.

Anyway, eventually I found my way home. You know, I always thought Auntie Em was kind of a stiff and a bitch, and Kansas was boring as hell, but I think I see it differently now. And the best part? I got a cool new pair of kicks somewhere along the road. They're red and glittery and have two-inch heels, which gives me a lift but aren't so high I'll wobble when I walk. YOLO. I think they're pretty nifty.

    Love and kisses,
    Dorothy.

The munchkins continue to sing her praises no matter how badly she abuses them.

Meredith would be the west witch, who feels the need to stir up anger and hatred for every last little thing, down to shaming a person for the shoes she chooses to wear on a night out. Which was the initial topic on this thread, in case you forgot. The flying monkeys would be all of the Meredith-fans (yes, you're out there) who fuel and spread that anger. Nothing anyone does is ever good enough for these folks.

Anon 5:03. is that you Meredith? Yes, I've been on the edge of my seat for years now, waiting for you to make it all happen. Why are YOU posting anonymously? Both everyone here and on the CAF blog have themselves worked up into hysterics that are beyond hysterical.

    1. 5:03 is me. I'm a retired (early) attorney who lives in Minnesota and raises & supports $ (fully) my two grandchildren. I don't appreciate name-calling but I'll take it if it means that your anger/sarcasm whatever you want to call it-accomplishes something-anything.

My granddaughter sent $ to JW on two occasions, her allowance mind you, because she felt sorry for her. She was sure she needed money to keep farming. The first time was for the Clan blog (two months worth of allowances). The second time was for her toothache. I made the donations for her with her $. She has only been a reader of JW since she read her book about Chicks. She is 12, she hasn't gone back to read over the entire blog etc. But I did when she said she thought JW had forgotten about her when content stopped on Clan blog. What do you tell a 12 year old? I'm here because I don't want others to fall for the same manipulations and scams. My granddaughter doesn't know about this blog or others were other people have reported losing money. I want to find the right time and way to sit down and tell her what happened or what it looks like happened. This year has been rough for both my grandchildren as they lost both their parents in a car accident this past February. So fire away with the name calling and creative story telling, I'll keep posting what I need to regardless. Best regards, Kay

    5. God bless your family. When dealing with children, I'm often in the position of having to put the best face on situations that are often ugly. You know best what to share with the kids, but feel free to let your granddaughter know that I think she's really cool to be interested in farming.

    6. Thank you for the kind words. KR you're right she has been through way worse, and yes she will learn a tough lesson once I figure out the best way to deal with this issue.

My late son and his wife with the girls were going to start a farm. They had bought land, some stock and were taking classes at the local extension office. Her parents are farmers and so the girls were thrilled that they would have their own farm and their grandparents to grow up on. I've lived in town since I lost my husband so no farm or farm animals here. My son was raised on a dairy farm so yes farming is in their blood. She's had the book since before her parent's accident. I believe she found JW's blog through the book but I don't think she spent much time going back and reading the blog from the beginning. But I do think she started to read it once she had the book in hand. I think she hoped that donating and being able to read a "special" blog gave her a chance to be written into the new book. I should have researched the cause before I ever let her donate. I feel bad about her money being taken. I think everyone here knows by now that money didn't go to save the farm. If JW had been too busy to write content, because of the farm, that would have been different. But as a FB follower (once), I know that being busy farming is not what kept her from keeping up clan blog.

I told my granddaughter someone called her pretty cool today, for being interested in farming, and she gave the thumbs up sign back to me. She is a pretty cool girl. Her sister is 7 and is non-stop kitties talk, so I think a cat is in our future.

In closing, I want my grandchildren to be kind and giving and not think everyone in the world is out to steal from them. Unfortunately part of the talk I will have to have with them is informing them that there are people in the world who do bad things. I will let them know that before we donate anymore money we need to be completely sure who we are really giving it to. And, what they are really going to be using it for.

The last few months have been a whirlwind of emotions and change. But lately I have taken the time to find my granddaughter other homesteading blogs to read. One of them was recommended here- The Elliot Homestead- it's her favorite now! She loves watching Shaye's YouTube videos. She doesn't mention JW or the clan blog anymore. The content of JWs blog is of no use to a little girl wanting to grow up to be a farmer anyways. She did ask awhile back if I knew if her tooth got fixed. I didn't have the heart to tell her what I had been reading at the time so I just said yes it was. She's saving her money now for Christmas so no more requests to donate to someone. Thanks again everyone.

    7. K, I am so taken aback by your post. I am glad you found this blog. Here there are a lot of good people who raise animals on a farm and want to share our stories. I think I will do that from now on, I don't know where you live, but if you live anywhere near NY, hudson valley, you and your grand daughters are more than welcome to come visit my place. I rent land and a barn and literally started this whole operation with my own money and sweat and now have a going sheep operation. I also train Border Collies to work livestock. It's a very neat life, marked by working hard, not having extra money, but it is a fulfilled life. Thanks, Kay, you have really put things in to perspective for me.

    8. I don't think the truth would hurt too much. She must have classmates or friends who have ADHD. They often have a hard time sticking to a task, or remembering commitments. Kudos to her for wanting to help someone at her age.

I think I'd also worry about some of Jenna's content being appropriate for a 12 year old, the swearing and weird sexual comments. Anyway, congratulations on having a wonderful grandaughter. I hope her future is full of ponies.

    9. All I can say is, if JFW still reads here and she reads this and it doesn't make her change her practices-"business" and otherwise-there is nothing that will change her.

Kudos to your granddaughter for being so kind as to help someone else with her own money. I hope she at least got a personal thank you. I know JFW's been known to offer some lame excuse about not having enough time to thank people personally and putting a blanket thank you on her blog. Unacceptable.

I hope she eventually gets to work with animals and her little sister gets her kitty!

Thanks for your story and for raising these awesome kids!

  78. Here is a summary of what people have reported so far:

JW started collecting money for graphic design work in college but did not deliver.

She had negative reviews on Etsy as she had a pattern of collecting money but not delivering.

She collected money for a wool and webinar CSA, but did not deliver.

She started a Clan blog for an annual fee, promised weekly posts which went to monthly, and now it has been reported to have ceased in July.

Someone on her Facebook page said they paid for pork shares which were not delivered.

Birchthorn was due in August to people who paid her in advance, but it has not yet been delivered.

    Anyone see a pattern here?

If anything here is not correct, please let me know.

  81. Jenna has certainly turned over a new leaf with her Compassion For Syrian Refugees platform. She's urging her fans to ponder what it might be like to be without food and shelter and be turned away. This is the same prepper zealot with a stockpile of canned mac and cheese who openly pledged to protect her home with all the firepower at her disposal including bartering food for the aid of several men from the local commune. ????? I guess she can afford to look caring when there's no actual threat of her having to open her doors or share her mac and cheese.

  82. If she had something substantive to add to the conversation I might think she is truly sincere about her stand. But so far what she has offered is of no value or accuracy to the conversation.

Controversial or hot button statements bring reactions from her followers. If you keep a close eye on her FB you will see that those responding may never have responded before. Who responds to her posts is dependent upon what topic arises. Since 90% of the topics on her FB are not homesteading there are many topics to pick from. None of which she knows anymore about then homesteading. Hence why every week or two weeks it's something altogether different then what it once was.

She's steering her audience but to where? While she's busy doing that many of them have grown silent, are just there to watch the impending trainwreck or simply do not tune in to her at all.

The refugees are a great way for her to open up her home and her land to aid others. If she really truly means what she is saying she should offer to sponsor a family to live on her farm. They could help her with the land, grow their food from the land, even help her build or mend her fences. With their help she could actually fix what is broken.

    1. That's exactly what I thought - for once it could be a win-win. She could host a family in need, and get some assistance around her place, and probably would receive financial assistance while they were with her.

Of course, it looks like her mom woud support that idea, which means JW won't do it.

I also agree that it seems like she throws political hot potatoes out there without a solid understanding of her own position, and doesn't engage in debate with the folks commenting. She rarely weighs in. And in fact, a while ago, she posted about a pagan book/author as a "must read" without taking a closer look at the author's background and independent book reviews, and got shut down by some people pointing out the controversy around the author's tactics. I don't think she's very good at research.

  84. Have you seen the latest gem on her blog comments about the logo and contribution to HI sale? She was asked about Birtchthorn and she gave this lame mewling about how it's almost done but she doesn't like the ending and then once she gets that it goes to the editor for six weeks and then it gets formatted and given to ebook backers and then it is printed as books for the saps that paid way too freaking much to support a con artist with 15.5 THOUSAND dollars.... Ain't gonna be done by Christmas, folks. Haha... Maybe 2016.

And don't you just love the comment... It's a novella now of 45,000 words... Like that is to impress. And that she doesn't want to feel rushed about getting it write. Rushed? Oh like in two years and now late rushed?

45,000 words in two years is a measly 63 words a day. Think about that. Any writer worth their salt, including our miss memoir of the year gal, can easily do 20 times that in a day. Her memoirs are easily 70,000 word books. And all she can muster for her fan fiction disaster, prepaid by adoring fans, is 45,000 words?

As a writer myself, I am appalled at her. She should be ashamed. Her publishers should be furious with her, because she is ruining the legitimacy of her previous works with her sullied attempt and Kickstarter sham if a novel... Er... Novella. People who donated were sold a bill of sale... Help get a novel crowd funded. And she can't even freaking write 62 words a day for it.

Get a clue, Jenna fans. Your dog is a lazy bitch. Not a scrappy wolf. Not a painted poodle.

Jenna is small potatoes so I doubt anyone is going to ask for proof that their $ actually went to charity. But if they did and found out she spent it, my guess is that she'd say such and such bill came up that she had to pay, and she planned to send the check to charity after the next logo sale.

The best thing to do is send the money to charity yourself. And do your research beforehand to be sure your money will be spent wisely.

  86. Her days as a legit writer are over. Through her own laziness she has been demoted to blogger. Just think what she could have done if she had the drive to take the momentum from her first books to develop a brand. Jenna is making very empty, cheap gestures about her willingness/ability to house and care for refugees and her mother is pointing out that reality. If Jenna doesn't want push back, from mommy or anyone else, she shouldn't have made her initial post so provocative.

Given Mama W's views on the Syrian refugees, I'd guess that JW posted her (supposed) desire to house a refugee family precisely because she knew it would push her mother's buttons. Depending on how toxic their relationship is, JW may in fact take a lot of satisfaction in seeing her fans attack her mother.

A- Does Cold Antler Farm allow attendees to use the bathroom or have a chicken sandwich. No? But she's gonna take in people. She usually sounds allergic to kids.
B- She lives a public life, especially doing business on Facebook. She's the one that has made everything open to others. And as much as my mom may irritate me, I would NEVER hang her out to dry with a bunch of strangers insulting her. That's low.
C- The refugee family would probably have all the "homesteading," done in the morning before she got home with her Stewarts coffee and Splenda packets.
D- The Me and Merlin book has been her focus for a long time, to be followed by the Anna Kendrick and Me book. B-thorn had already been started when she took money for it.

Does she even do any farming? And I think I'm going to create a logo just for the fun of it. Given the free art on the internet, I can't imagine doing much worse. Or maybe I'll just try to make one worse than "Pig Iwo Jima."

Her concern for Syrian refugees seemed very out of character for her, she's generally disinterested in the outside world aside from celebs. Yet, in the past couple of days she's made numerous posts favoring asylum and wouldn't you know-- her mother is vehemently against it. Perhaps it was to antagonize her mother all along? 1. The family is just as it has been written about here. Embarrassed and livid over her behavior. She doesn't speak to much family outside of text or Facebook and yes, her mother seems to definitely instigate jenna on her facebook. She doesn't talk to her otherwise. Most family that I know ignores any talk about jenna. More like roll eyes, brush her off as the crazy part of the family. When it gets into the parts where she takes money and is begging online, they really seem to be crushed over it. I mean, a crazy family member off in NY, ok...one that basically steals and begs from people online for 10 years, not ok.

They are from a small fishbowl town. Jenna got a lot of publicity for being the great writer, a published author, a great "go live your one wild and crazy life." But now any attention for years has been negative. Some comments on her facebook are even past or current teachers in the local schools. And others known to many. I mean, everyone in the area knows the names. It is extremely embarrassing to get confirmation that locals are reading your daughter's or sister's crap when you know some of the people commenting. It must be difficult for them. And no they do not send money. Maybe years ago as support to begin the farm, but not since the begging/ quit job/ don't visit family for years started.

The visit a few weeks back was because she wanted the kids to see her farm, plus the guilt over well you never visit here but complain I never visit you. Not that I know much but I have to watch what I say.

  111. Any bets on how long she'll be off Facebook? I'm thinking 2 days, MAX.

  112. Hmmm...I'm guessing 3 things:
    1. She'll be back within 24 hours selling logos/workshops with no mention of yesterday.
    2. She'll stay off for a while and use yesterday's emotional trauma (ha) as an excuse as to why Birchthorn is missing yet another deadline
    3. This is the slippery slope to the end of her posting/blogging as we knew it...the distrust/disdain of her mother/family has spread to a distrust/disdain of her fans...which is really counterproductive when she counts on them 100% for her livelihood.

    This is getting verrrry interesting...

  113. A narcissist cannot stand being out of the limelight for too long. My guess is she will be back sooner than later.

  114. Anyone that's messaged her or messages her can then tell when the person was last on Facebook. It's a nifty stalking tool. Jk, but it does have its uses. I have no clue what went down on Facebook because she censors that as well (I'm blocked)but it sounds like a disaster.

I'm not sure why she doesn't have a personal fb page and a business page...I'm guessing because her business is just "being" and there wouldn't be any content.

  115. Yes, exactly. Nothing wrong with having a personal Facebook page to express yourself but if you're running a business you need a separate page. You'll notice all professionals do just that. JW does not. Then seems surprised when people have opposing viewpoints and gets her feelings 'hurt'. These recent postings have nothing to do with homesteading, workshops, logos, etc. Of course neither do postings about celebrities and music.

  116. Hahaha--- yes, watching and commenting on the Jenna Show is frivolous in a world with so much strife--- but that point holds true for her fangirls as well. Jenna has nothing of substance to say and certainly nothing worth paying her for. And I'm not outraged, I'm amused. Very amused. The animal abuse is very upsetting as is the 12 year old girl who was ripped off and let down. Aside from those things, though, it's just entertainment.

Thanks Savage, I don't go to her site. It creeps me the hell out. Ever since she reposted pictures from my facebook that showed my cleavage and there was slut shaming I realized what her deal actually was and I stay away. There isn't a lifestyle blogger out there without a couple pages on GOMI and sites like hers. Look at what Heather Armstrong has to deal with... http://dooce.com/hate/

Recreational offense at bloggers is mostly adorable and hard to take seriously, especially in a world with rapists, serial killers, pedophiles, mass shootings, bombings, drought, starving children and wars. Yet that little angry group on that site has chosen to focus their outrage on me, a single woman living alone in the woods who owes people yarn refunds, is taking too long on a novel's estimated completion time, and had livestock die. Yup. I'm a monster.

When I read your comment I let out an audible "awww" and bless their hearts, but the intensity/obsession does wig me out.
