Couldn't help myself...

"If there is a warmer way to live in this world than kindling collected by the sweat of loved ones, let me know? "

I watched the sweat shop episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia today and that CAF quote made me laugh out loud.

As far as closure on this blog I think her quote summarizes it perfectly.

Use and abuse, the CAF way.

  1. Is this where we remind you of the CAA (Cold Antler Anonymous) pledge? Step away from the computer, close your eyes, take 10 deep breathes and go to your happy place.

    1. Haha yes!

      I love it!

For there were never more transparent words spoken.

I feel like now we can all rest in peace. Blast the guns, farewell cold antler!

  3. She has all but abandoned the Cold Antler blog. She started a blog on Tyr's Good Hand and is writing more there than she probably has all year on Birchthorn!
I think she sees the writing on the wall:
    1. publishers aren't interested in any more homesteading books
    2. fans aren't funding her every whim
    3. logos aren't selling very well
    4. workshops aren't paying the bills.

So, she went back to Orvis and is probably going to try and publish a book on being a Heathen. It's the only reason I see for her going GUNG HO on a group that's only 12 strong. Good luck with that.

I'm looking forward to her fading into the background. She can be a heathen in her backyard all she wants.

    2. There may be a lull in her blog for a couple of reasons. She may be too busy working on the Orvis project. Or, Birchthorn backers may be showing up at her doorstep figuratively, wielding pitchforks and torches, demanding to have their copies by Yuletide as promised.

    2. There is a warmer way to live...stack your own effing firewood. That will heat you up from the work of stacking and then again when the fire is blazing.

  6. So sad to see you back on the CAF horse, Meredith.

And you left out the part of Jenna's post where said she got a job!

"Tomorrow I head back to my old offices at Orvis for some part time seasonal work. What a gift that is! I am just a few logo sales or fiddle lessons away from making another mortgage payment and getting this farm on solid ground. This job is a real nod in my favor, and some true luck. It feels earned and needed. It is as warm as the firewood."

Jenna got a job! And you leave that part out?

    It hurts your credibility, Meredith.

    2. My CAF commentary credibility?

      I don't understand your logic.

When has employment curbed her bad behaviors in the past?

      Delete
    3. No Meredith, it hurts your personal credibility. In other words, your credibility in every thing you do.

Jenna's employment is to bring in money for the farm. That is the purpose of employment, to have income. It is not meant to be a curb on bad behavior.

You have the logic problem, Meredith. And a credibility problem too.

One day you will look into the mirror and see a 50 year-old looking back. You will have wasted the prime years of your life on CAF, pigs (a substitute issue for Eddie), and the lumberjack of the week.

Get help Meredith. People care about you. People love you, Meredith. The ability to admit a mistake, to say you were wrong, is a sign of high intellect.

How is your backsliding any different than Jenna's so-called bad behaviors? Who appointed you the judge of Jenna?

    4. Interesting opinion.

      Clueless...but interesting.

If Eddie was alive I would be doing the same thing with the criminal animal abuse at Ayrshire Farm.

You think I'm pursuing this because Eddie is dead?

You think I've wasted the prime of my life?

You think you know the intimate details about my personal relationship with this man?

You really don't know how making a blog post or spending time with a person is different than neglecting animals basic and medical needs and stealing from "clients"?

    5. Lumberjack of the week? Seriously? My flavor of the week has been the same since for 6 months.

Dear rose selling, incense spewing, mantra loving slave of the great and invincible Jennarishchi - what's really peculiar is your monitoring of this blog on behalf of JW (F it, you prob are JW), don;t you think it strange that this is YOUR LIFE monitoring the opinions of others who may wonder how the animal neglecting and business disastering damsel in perpetual distress continues to spin her craft of FRAUD. She is giving the whole "community" a bad name, she is a libel to farmers, homesteaders, authors, bloggers, CSA's and just abusing the charity of others.
      Let me pause.
M - I think you should continue to develop your blog as you see fit, I do not want to bitch about JW here, can do so at the Sham, but I do not appreciate the game plan of the professional synchophants who want to whitewash the crap that come from Washington county freeholds, mountain musicians can stack wood, buy a logo and eat kale. So go back to your Facebook love fest for CAF and know we're always watching you too sister!

  9. It is tempting to see what she's up to, but I found it refreshing not to read about her here. She's gross! You have a much more interesting life than she does, Meredith, and I'm glad to hear that your CFS is getting better. I hope that your health continues to improve in the new year so that you can take advantage of everything your area has to offer. I'm about to sign up for some more horseback riding lessons that involve even more preliminary "ground work" than I've already had, as well as using a lunge line. The instructor is also going to help me work on my balance. I'm excited! Maybe I'll actually get good at this in 2016!

  10. Glad to hear you're still with your lumberjack, Meredith! And don't worry about your "credibility," I don't worry about you looking in the mirror at 50 and seeing something you don't like at all. You are honest, you deal straight with people and you don't take advantage of others, all of which are the perfect prescription for sleeping well at night! Since this is the only place I read about CAF, it was interesting to read this. The other thing I am very curious about is how the whole Birchthorn thing is going to turn out. I wonder how the finished product will turn out, esp. the hardcover versions of the book, and if people will be happy and feel they got their money's worth. With only a couple of weeks away from the due date, I guess they'll know soon.

  14. One reason for the success of CAF:
Word bubble her last posting, these are the key BS terms that make people want to give her money, sad but true:

    sleeping
    volunteer
    friends
    right thing
    friends
    good feeling
    friendship
    warmer way
    loved ones
    working
    kin
    friends
    grateful
    gift
    farm
    true luck
    firewood

She is the Saul Alinsky of homesteading word art, she knows how to write a sob story, the con artist perfected for a sucka world.

  15. She said she wasn't going to talk about her finances anymore, but she slipped in this subliminal message: "I am just a few logo sales or fiddle lessons away from making another mortgage payment and getting this farm on solid ground".

Which I interpret as her still hinting to her readers that she's behind in her mortgage and it's up to them to buy a logo, workshop pass, or even better, just send a donation.

I'm glad to hear JW got a job, but I do have a question for you. What do you think of the fact that she received $15k from backers for Birchthorn, then proceeded to write a book about Merlin, binge watch TV, trap and hunt with a hawk, and other playing around so that she missed her first deadline in August and will probably miss the December deadline as well.

  17. Cold Antler Farm is not welcome here

    http://highstfarm.blogspot.com/2015/12/cold-antler-farm-is-not-welcome-here.html

It has come to my realization this blog has become a 110% bitch fest.

Many moons ago I read and commented on the Cold Antler Farm blog. Jenna Woginrich was offended by my comments and asked that I no longer comment on her blog.

So I commented about it on my own blog.

At this point every post I make become a "Jenna" post.

For example...the post about my great grandparents I posted on thanksgiving.

Im requesting CAF and Jenna Woginrich no longer consume this blog. She disgusts me. Everything about her is disturbing.

This blog has turned into 99.99% Cold Antler Farm content and it's time to take it to the source:

Here are some alternatives...ditch Meredeth et al.

I am pulling for her to balance and start taking better care of her animals and stop ripping people off and begging, it is the season of light, let us have hope

  20. Now, what I want to know about the lumberjack of the week CSA is whether it is always a fresh lumberjack or do you work through a list. In other words do I get the 2nd week of April lumberjack in July again? If I get a good one, can I keep him? What is the adoption fee? Can I get a discount if he isn't housebroken? Sorry for all the questions, but I really want to buy a share of this particular CSA.

    1. Maybe we can bypass the CSA and start a lumberjack co-op. You know, gather 12 members and 12 lumberjacks, then rotate them once a month. Just sayin'...

      Delete
  21. Ok, so here's how the lumberjack CSA works. You send me $$$ and I promise to send a lumberjack each week. After awhile, it will taper to once every other week, then once a month, then you will not receive any lumberjacks at all.

You will then send inquiries and I will respond there is a lumberjack shortage. Then you will request refunds which I will ignore. But I will write on my blog that people send hate emails because I'm a single woman living the life she chooses.

My supporters will respond that there are risks associated with lumberjack CSA's and that it is the buyers fault.

Please send money soon as there is a wolf outside my door.

    Birchthorn is Completed! YAY!
    Hey all!

I am writing to let you know that the novel is completed, but the dates for publication are not going to be before Christmas. I am sending this note to keep communication open and let you know the new expectations.

The editing process (professional editor is hired) and design layout (which I am doing) to prepare for digital and print publication are the next steps. The ebook will certainly come out first! I am estimating by the end of winter, if not sooner. The hard part was writing the thing, now it just needs the back-and-forth of author and editor. After the words are set it is time to create the lovel, Victorian feeling, of the digital and print books.

So I will post updates soon as I have more, including sample pages and cover art - right now the work of writing is done and we are in production! Again, I am sorry for underestimating the time it would all take - but this is my first ever totally self-published project and would rather it take long and be something I am proud of than rush out an un-edited, sloppy, pdf to a due date.

So thank you for your patience and expect good things in 2016!

Happy Holidays from Cold Antler Farm!

  27. One must wonder why her unfulfilled writing promises (aka thievery) would not disqualify her from her own "Kindred" based on the new rules she herself is proposing over on the website:

Rule #3 for your reading pleasure:

    3. You can be removed from our Tribe any time that you hurt your own reputation and worth in a way that also hurts our Tribe.

  32. She is doing it once again.......when the pressure is on for her to actually live up to one of her agreements, she lights off on a new adventure. Her new Tribe...this one with the rules that she writes so she has more control. She is tired of the work conning requires and thinks it will be much easier if she is in charge.
She will never finish her Kickstarter book....just wait and see. There will be aother delays ad nauseaum with her hoping people will just forget about it like the wool, pork, and other ventures, and she can just bask in the glory of stealing $15,000. Yes, it's stealing if you promise something in return for money and then not deliver! We all knew it, we stated it, we tried to warn people........and just as the rain falls, she carries off another con! Too funny since she said at least a month ago, that it was already with the Editor....hmmm backtracked from that lie it would seem. Where is it? Lying unfinished in her computer? Lying finished in her computer because she has nothing left of the kickstarter funds to actually pay an editor........why not take up one of the volunteers who offered to edit for free? Maybe because that would then prove that it's not done at all or done in such a rush as to be non-sensible? How many actually had their storylines included as she promised? Grand promises and no follow through again, and again, and again.
But, none of that matters because she has embarked on a new 'holy' journey in her spiritual quest and her 'tribe' needs her! She must focus all her energy on this enlightened journey 'with a full liquor cupboard'.
Only a true sociopath could actually believe in the ridiculous things she tells herself/her fans. We cannot fathom the lying, cheating, conning because we have a conscience. You either have one or you don't. It's not something at this stage of her life, that she can develop.
Grab a seat and share my popcorn while we continue to watch this slow train wreck in progress. Do you think just once in a while she'd try to finish something so she could make us out to be fools? Not even that smart...nope. Butter on your popcorn?
