Mamma and puppies

Sheetz still hasn't quite taken to her puppies but is allowing them closer and is resting comfortably.

The ER Vet ended up not charging for the pain meds or antibiotics. She realizes what a unique situation this was and her heart for animals really shined through.

My friends sister paid the other portion of the bill...and is keeping one of the puppies.

Thanks for your well wishes and KC for your donation. It will go towards supplemental feeding supplies.  Such a group effort and looking at Sheetz and the puppies it is so well worth it!

  1. Again, there was and is no need for anyone to donate, since the vet discounted her services and comped others and the owner's mother paid the remainder of the vet bill. If the owner can't afford formula or other puppy related expenses, the puppies and the mother need to be surrendered to a rescue. This is no different that Jenna's begging.

    1. Geez, let's call the Internet Police-- someone's trying to help a dog.

It's in the mother dog's best interest to stay in the home she knows-- especially now--- what's it to you if anyone wants to help out with that?

Jenna begs for her own benefit, Meredith was trying to help an animal in need--- totally different.

    2. When I asked there was no discount there was no help from family members. It all evolved wonderfully due to compassionate people.

Moving the mother dog out of the home she has known and come to love with a family that adores her over supplemental food is heartless and no rescue would even do such a thing. They would help the new owner of the rescue dog and ask if there was anything else he needs. It is teamwork.

When I posted originally my friend was in the position of potentially having to euthanize the mom and remaining puppy would die.

Most people and even small rescues do not have several thousand dollars available at the drop of a hat. They rely on fundraisers and donations.

Thankfully this is a happy ending, its a shame some people can't see the difference between saving lives and buying toys.

One is selfless and the other is selfish.

I am HUGE on offering and accepting helping hands when needed.

Kindness and compassion are still alive, I witnessed in action today.

His sister even came over with a heat pad and carpet cleaner. That's what family is about.

    5. So, is anyone advocating for a rescue also begging? Is the rescue itself begging? Because those rescues shouldn't have taken in animals the couldn't care for, right?

The difference here is that these donations would go to saving animals that would have died without help. Rescues do this sort of thing all the time. I was extremely fortunate to have been fostering for a rescue who gladly paid for one of my fosters to see a neurologist when she started having seizures as a baby. I knew full well that a black special needs cat wasn't likely to be adopted, so I adopted her. She was the sweetest little cuddle bug. But this is the whole point of rescue - to help animals in need.

Jenna acts like a spoiled child and uses her "donations" for funding her lazy, self-indulgent lifestyle. Jenna only sees her animals as props for The Jenna Show.

    6. Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, legitimate animal rescue organizations are non-profit by tax status.

    7. Many rescues are legit but are too small or new to be 501c3

    9. Non-profit are hardly means well funded. The I've worked/fostered for were all non-profit and still needed donations.

  2. Big difference. Jenna begs for her own selfish wants and doesn't appear to give one thought to another living creature. Meredith, her friend, the vet and anyone who donated definitely know what it is like to care for something other than themselves. If you really, honestly and truly, don't see the difference, I feel bad for you. Your lack of compassion to another living creature in a dire situation is really rather sad.

  3. Thank you Meredith for helping a friend in need! That poor momma dog! Thank your friend and his family for taking in the mom and puppies and for caring for them. They are heroes in my book!

  4. Thank you for the encouraging words all.

I took in a pregnant black pit bull myself 10 and a half years ago. Cali is one of those puppies...and is now an old greying 3 legged senior.

This situation really hit close to home and I was blessed to be a part of it.
