Tyr's Good Hand - Asatru & Heathen Study Group

Jennas meet up group...

The best part? Interview only!

"If you join you will be interviewed and then either removed from the group or welcomed to join in."

I didn't realize meetups could be by interview only.  I also didn't realize you had to pay to be part of a group.

That's one way to weed them out...don't let them in!

  1. Thank you for recording that for posterity.

  4. I find it interesting that on her Meetup profile, she claims to be a practicing Pagan or whatever for 15 years. When I first started reading her blog over 5 years ago, she was a Zen Buddhist who went on Zen retreats. She had been a Zen Buddhist since she was in college, according to her. She's what, 30 or 32? Why can't she just say she's been a Pagan for the past 3 years? Why say 15 years? Why does she have to be perceived as an expert at everything she's interested in at the moment? She's always searching for something, and at this point I'm afraid she won't ever find it if she hasn't already.

  5. I find it more interesting that she is basing her kindred on Tyr the Norse god of justice and truth….but I digress on that one

  7. Yeah, one wonders about this all. She can't get a real job because she's so freaking busy on all these social sites like Facebook and all. She posts like umpteen times a day, plus her blog and other sites. And then she runs around the forest nekkid and rides her pony and all. No wonder she can't get her work done for clients or webinars or whatever other schemes she has going on.

  10. Per HER OWN WORDS on HER OWN BLOG:

People ask me why Cold Antler Farm is called Cold Antler. It's a mix of Zen Buddhism and hopeless romanticism

July 2011: I hope you spent the day with the ones you love, and find yourself tired and happy by the time you hit the sheets. I mean that with all I've got. And for those of you who have served, or have children in far away places tonight: you have my thoughts and prayers, which isn't much from a homesteading Buddhist, but she's all I've got.

April 6, 2013: You could call me a lapsed Catholic, a lazy Buddhist, a Cafeteria Pagan, or an Agnostic with a fiddle case.

Does she not know the difference between lies and the truth? That isn't 15 years, darling.

Maybe CAF should be renamed, "Keeping up with the Katz's".

And even he couldn't stomach her. At the height of their short-lived friendship she said no one else on Earth knew her better than Jon Katz. Damn weird thing to say about someone else's husband.

I'm sure she's patiently waiting for the opportunity to get back in his good books--- hobnobbing with a NYT bestselling author is just the kind of ego boosting affirmation she feeds on.

Hint, hint--- send me prezzies! I want more gifts!

  16. Today's post - "So come to the farm! Learn a skill! And support this feral farm gal because by the gods, she needs it :)"

If she needs it she shouldn't have bought a puppy.

We would all like certain things in life...me included. But, I'm not willing to sacrifice my home just so I can have a toy I've been lusting over for years, RIGHT NOW!

Accumulating stuff is like a drug for her. Life is boring, but hunting for and buying stuff is an adrienaline rush. I know someone that matches her to a tee. I call him my ex, couldn't save a dime to save his life, always in debt, always buying, always behind, always someone else's fault, always looking for someone to bail him out.

    I should introduce them:)

    1. The grossest mistake was in not even purchasing a wool-producing breed. Sure, all sheep grow wooly coats. Not all breeds are suitable for producing salable fleeces or yarn. Basic research before purchasing livestock or selling csa shares.

  20. The best part about these past couple blog posts here, is how transparent Jenna has become to the majority, and how she is nothing but poser who has to copy others, as she has NEVER had original ideas (even her cold antler farm, is derived from cold water creek clothes line). It's too rich. Jenna cannot train anything, and will not train this one, why should she? That would be work. Not going to happen.

  25. Face it, she thrives on all this crap. I think she wants a certain amount of negative or critical comments because then she can act all high and mighty and smarter than everyone, it builds up her street cred. It makes her an 'expert' because she won't knuckle down and accept wisdom or advice. She's so wrapped up in her "gods gift to all things special" feelings that she can do no evil, no do harm and we are all the idiots and such for even commenting on her actions. She'll ruin her dog just like Gibson. Face it, they are just pets. It's still America and stupid is as stupid does. It's just new fodder for her ego building and con arting.

    1. All this but, also, she's just totally clueless. What difference does it make that she was there? Goat head butts puppy, puppy never wants to go near a goat again-- that would take all of three seconds. It doesn't need to be a no-holds-barred goat attack. The point the commenter was making is that it's easier to prevent training problems than to have to undue them later.

      Delete
    2. Remember, she ALLOWED that comment. She read it first and allowed it through. It was just another calculated sound byte that she can manipulate. She wanted to chide that person and make herself look good, like she's so knowledgeable and all. She allowed it to slip by.

      Delete
    3. Geez, I wish those people would stop telling Jenna what to do. Don't they know she's not only a hill shepherd but a world class trainer? If it weren't for Gibson's incredible skills she could never handle her flock of half a dozen sheep.

      Delete
    4. She knows nothing, and it sounds like she's never really watched a dog being trained on livestock. They are so fast, you can't react in time to save them if something goes wrong. They also have no hesitation, and you want them to keep that, because someday it could save your life if a ram or bull decides to turn on you. So, I was always told not to start them before 6 to 9 months. I question Jon Katz letting his puppy in the sheep pasture too, but at least she's older and seems to be keeping her distance from the sheep.

If Jenna and Katz spoil their dogs it really doesn't matter-- neither one of them needs a working dog. So long as they don't get injured in the process.

    1. She must have another fiddle - how else will she teach at her fiddle camp? Although she must get them pretty cheap from her source. But since she didn't offer a case with the one for sale, I thought she might have another. But she must know it would be awkward for her fans to buy it from her thinking it's her only one - even at that price which seems inflated.

  30. Someone asked Jenna on her blog why she got a second herding dog-- her reply:

Siberian - that didn't come off as any way negative but thank you for considering my feelings. The answer is that I wanted a second dog because I have always lived with two dogs, and Annie is turning 16 soon. I adore Annie but I need to be realistic about her lifespan. So instead of getting a dog in a place of grief after losing one - I'd rather plan, save, and pick the right dog for my lifestyle. Getting the puppy wasn't about utility as much as family and while I will train her to herd and hopefully some trialing she is here to be Gibson's right hand woman and be the "second" dog when Annie passes on - with an overlap that does't leave Gibson as the only dog.

What a steaming pile of BS. She got a new puppy because she wanted one and she gets what she wants, when she wants. First off, it's hilarious the commenter had to bubble wrap their question so as not to wound Jenna's elephantine ego. Second, I love the way she makes it look like the puppy is really for Gibson's benefit.

She claims to "adore" Annie yet recklessly adds another dog (and kitten) to her household when she freely admits she's struggling financially. Annie may be nearly 16 but there are plenty of common and easily treatable health problems that are not death sentences that would require vet care. I'm thinking UTIs, incontinence, arthritis-- all pretty common for older dogs. I doubt she's considered any of this. Is the plan to euthanize Annie if she requires more than her kibble for upkeep? Even that will cost money.

"getting a dog in a place of grief" ???? Like you're going to be that broken up about a dog you no longer write about because she doesn't fit in with your farm fairy tale. (Yeah, she said this).

"I'd rather plan, save, and pick the right dog for my lifestyle." I think she meant plot and scheme. I hope she realizes that as long as she owes her mechanic it's kinda his dog, too. She probably should have run the name by him first.

And really, I'm sure Gibson could tolerate being an only dog for a little while--- he probably already is effectively.

Jenna always has to rationalize her shit decisions-- too bad it's the animals that pay the price.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, she certainly didn't save for it. Unless you count scamming her readers by claiming that she couldn't afford a root canal and taking THEIR savings.

  32. I wonder if her remarks of specific partial payments on specific bills are really a pat-on-her-own-back or a message sent out that she still needs to pay the majority of the bill. Because who would admit they are so irresponsible? (and unethical)

    Also:
"You should use common sense and be careful in deciding whether to make a payment to an Organizer or Creator or Host. Organizers or Creators or Hosts have full discretion whether and how to spend money in connection with their Meetup Groups or Alliances. We cannot ensure that an Organizer or Creator or Host is legitimate and truthful, that he or she will use payments as promised, or that you will be happy with how your payment is spent."

  39. Just out of curiosity, I wonder how Jenna's starting a pagan meetup group will affect her relationship with the members of Common Sense Farm. They are Messianic Jews, which is really a form of Conservative Christianity and they take the bible literally. I'm sure they have strong opinions on heathens, pagans, wiccans, Norse gods and magick.

And speaking of Common Sense Farm, a google search revealed that it is more cult-like than community. After reading a few stories from ex-members, if I had to choose one, I think I'd rather take my chances on the pagan meetup group.
