  1. Well. the only thing is that it can be hard to remember the letters, or easy to confuse them with the other 7 Introvert personality types. Maybe if the subname was "The Advocate" or "The Intuitive Introvert"!!!

  3. I haven't found the Meyers-Briggs personality types all that useful as far as relating to others. (Also I'm on the border of 2 different I-type classifications INTP/INTJ so that confuses the issue. May I suggest people check out Mark Gungor's book (and web-page and dvds etc) "Discovering Your Heart with the Flag Page". He is a marriage/relationship counselor (encourages single people to learn about this stuff before they get married). We went to one of his weekend seminars and viewed a dvd series. He focuses on the different brain types of men and women (with the caveat that it is a generality--and some individuals may be the opposite of what's typical). He is Christian but does not focus on religious beliefs. He's also a comedian and very funny --he says he attracts alot of pagans to his talks.
I think his most important contribution is a personality finder that he has devised that is much simpler and easier to understand than the Meyer-Briggs, and it is especially for understanding and relating to your significant other--although it is a fun and very enlightening thing you could do with/for your teenager, for example. The premise is that you design a personal "flag" . First you pick your Home country which is either Perfect, Control, Fun, or Peace. (you can find explanations online or in his book "Discovering Your Heart with the Flag Page". --they sound odd and you might think that's only 4 choices, but there's more to it and it's very clever) Then you pick your secondary or Adopted Country which is one of the other 3 of the 4 identities. Then you pick very quickly from a list of 56 "Motivations" (we paid to do this online but they are listed in the book). -these are qualities that strike a chord with you--for example some of mine were curiosity, creativity, independent, but there are many others. They are characterized as being "soft" (eg faithful, good listener, sensitive) and "hard" (eg persistent, economical, idealistic). Then you learn how important those qualities are to your sense of self. Every country type has a "greatest need". When people you know do or say something that counteracts that need or goes against one of your motivators, you perceive that as an attack against your "country" or self. So you make up laws or rules to help other people navigate in your country. You also figure out the colors of your flag based on Talent Types. It sounds gimmicky but it's not only fun it's SO enlightening to create your "flag" --it's very validating to decide the things you need to be happy and to learn about your significant other's flag and their "rules". And I think if you were having trouble with your kids it could be so helpful for them to develop their own guidelines and learn about themselves. By the way, I don't work for Mark Gungor or anything related!!! I'm just a huge fan of his flag idea (and his relationship seminars are very entertaining--and I'm not a fan of comedy, either). Just a suggestion, but you won't be disappointed!!
