Calis not feeling well.
The symptoms appear to be a parasite. I think I'm ruling out poisoning.
I'd take her to the vet for a fecal but doubt they'd be able to collect anything with how runny her stool is.
The older man who owns the building we live in (he lives in the other upstairs apartment) has a day nurse. She called to say the dogs were barking which is unusual and she peeped in and saw the mess. I came home and am I ever glad I did.
Unfortunately I missed a job fair at a local ski lodge, thought security might be an enjoyable outside winter job. I'll contact them later.
Crazy that Sadie is my oldest going blind, deaf, and senile yet the other 2 are my recent health scares.
Littles appears to be moving in the right direction but it still on meds.
I need to get all these dogs up to snuff!
Ugh, dislike. Diarrhea and drooling could be nothing major or it could be, too. So frustrating. With my dogs it's usually something they ate that was contraband/found outside. Do you have a thermometer? That can be helpful in diagnosing. Hope she's feeling better soon. Glad to hear about Littles, too.
ReplyDeleteI don't but think I should walk to CVS and get one.
DeleteThe alpaca farm has their own microscope and runs their own fecals. I'm going to ask if they'll done one of Calis if she's not feeling better tomorrow or Saturday.
She still has an appetite so that's a plus.
Cali is a runner so she's always on a leash or line which limits the unknown of what she might have eaten outside.
I wonder if round worms could cause this? I found a few fleas on them and know ingesting fleas could be the cause of internal parasites.
Fleas and tapeworms are connected if I recall.

DeleteHope it is nothing serious. Nausea causes the drooling. Obviously something has upset her system.
ReplyDeleteYes hopefully nothing serious!

ReplyDeleteIf you can get your hands on homeopathics, Arsenicum Album is correct for dogs with these symptoms (you can read more here: http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/12-homeopathic-remedies/). I find quite a few homeopathics work well with dogs. Sounds like you ahve your hands and heart full these days!

DeleteThere's a good one for nerve pain too I could potentially use for littles! If it doesn't pass quickly ill try and get soma for cali.
DeleteActivated charcoal is always safe to give and will help bind any toxins in her system.
ReplyDeleteYes! Ayrshire used that...not appropriately of course but I forgot about it.
DeleteWhite rice and a little chicken broth usually is effective, and it's cheap.
ReplyDeleteShe vomited dinner so I think a little fast and rice and broth is the plan of attack.

DeleteHow's she doing today?
ReplyDeleteBetter! No drooling, straining, or liquid stools!
DeleteWith their age I realize I'm starting to freak out about everything...

I hear you. I'm pretty much the same. You never know when it's the beginning of the end......but you don't want to spoil the "now" with "what ifs?". I always try to remember the saying "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it".
DeleteGlad to hear things are looking up. They're family, of course you're going to worry. We once had three elderly, medicated pets (dog, cat and house rabbit) at the same time. It's hard when they age.
