She has money for Rogaine but not to pay her bills? Same olde story. I couldn't bring myself to watch the video. Agree with have what you can afford to care for properly.
Nope, I disagree, Meredith. Most people have pets for years and years and rarely have some type of catastrophe requiring pricey vet visits. If every one of my pets right now had a medical emergency at the same time, I probably couldn't pay for it. I'm not talking about routine vaccines, I'm talking serious health issues requiring surgery, over night care, etc.
Does this mean I should get rid of all but one of my animals on the random chance that something might happen to all of them at the same time? No. I know that providing homes for several unwanted animals (mine were all rescues) is better than not providing homes for fear of not being able to afford medical emergencies for all of them at the same time. You simply cannot be prepared for every "what if" situation that could ever arise.
And just because you don't take an animal to the vet doesn't mean you can't humanely euthanize it on your own.
Providing proper routine care is not the same as having thousands of dollars just waiting around on the off chance there is a freak accident, or multiple freak accidents. One pet emergency? Sure, I could pay up to my decided limit for that animal. Multiple emergencies? I'm not sure if I could, it would depend on the circumstances.
Obviously humane euthanization is an option. How many animals have gone without vet care at CAF? How many have been humanely euthanized in lieu of vet care?
I don't have the funds on hand to take my dog or dogs to the vet. Borrowing, credit cards, selling, etc...these are all options. No vet care when necessary is not an option unless you kill or have the animal killed.
"Most people have pets for years and years and rarely have some type of catastrophe requiring pricey vet visits."
Who are these lucky bastards? I don't call a puppy getting into something potentially deadly all THAT unusual and I doubt the vet visit was pricey, either. $49 for the call to poison control and an emergency vet visit where they gave the dog activated charcoal and monitored her blood pressure. Did they run blood work? I don't think she said. Doesn't sound like an expensive visit to me yet Woginrich is wringing her hands about the money she's blown on it and acting like it's a big problem.....
Anyway, if you have three dogs and two cats you're going to have plenty of cause to go to the vet outside of routine vaccinations and annual exams. Shit crops up. It's not unreasonable to have a little war chest built up to deal with expenses. Whatever anyone can afford to set aside-- a few hundred so at least an animal could be euthanized if it came to it.
I don't consider myself "lucky" that I haven't many catastrophic vet visits. I can think of ONE, for a very minor surgery to remove a growth on a dog. It was between $350-400. Other than that, no major issues. In fact, we went years without an actual vet exam because there are rabies clinics at least twice a year, and a low-cost clinic that does HW tests.
And I mean catastrophe like a gastric torsion, or being hit by a car, or ingesting a toxic substance (DUH, because we keep our toxic substances AWAY from our animals). I wouldn't consider us lucky...we just keep our animals healthy.
My cats never see the vet because we take them to rabies clinics for their vaccines and low-cost clinics for spay/neuter.
I have expensive misfits...cali had the $2,500ish amputation, Sadie $1000 oxygen tank and several hundred for a tumor removal. Lyme disease testing and treatment. Littles over $1,500 between 3 rentals and tons of extractions...same for Bryce.
Little was knocked unconscious once and I thought he was dead.
Cali had skin issues for years.
Thankfully aside from Littles ruptured disc I've only had rabies and I did other shots since I've been working part time.
I am just boggled that anyone would put something on their head that the fumes alone would kill cats and ingestion would kill dogs. Why would you put that poison on your head, and why as an animal owner would you have that in your house? LOL maybe her crazy behavior can all be traced to her putting this poison on her head
I think the difference here is that when JFW's animals have a vet visit, she moans and whines about the cost, and then some poor, generous sucker pays the bill.
A little off topic, but look on Facebook at her latest post about logos. There are a bunch of them and one is "The Birchthorn Project". Wow. Maybe instead of making (bad) (fake) logos she should finish the stupid book!
I had to take my car in for minor repairs today, so while waiting I was "treated" to the first episode of Dr. Phil I've seen in years. Today's guest, "Kris", is living his life with EXACTLY the same philosophy as JW, only this guy wants to be famous as a rock star. He's in his 40s, still lives with his mother, and has managed to mooch (by Dr. Phil's estimates) $1.7 million off his parents, former girlfriends, ex-fiance, etc. All of it went to feed his rock star fantasy - a state of the art $100,000 recording studio, $30,000 drum set, expensive electric guitars, etc. etc. No job in sight, just this fantasy life that he gets other people to fund. So Dr. Phil gets Gene Simmons (of KISS fame) to come on and give the guy some advice, which basically boiled down to: your dreams are great, keep working toward them, but while you're doing that, GET A JOB AND PAY THESE PEOPLE BACK!
Too funny - all the way through, all I could think of was JW. Not sure if the whole episode is online. You can watch Gene Simmons' advice on the Dr. Phil here: http://www.drphil.com/shows/page/gene_simmons_surprise/
OMG she's so nasty and gross. She has someone in tears and someone else offering to do whatever they can to help her. How does she look herself in the mirror? She's taking advantage of kindhearted people who also happen to be gullible or perhaps not all there! Leave those people and their money alone, Jenna!!!!!
We don't need no workshop education We don't need no farm control No dark begging on the Facebook Jenna leave them "friends" alone Hey! Jenna! Leave them lil' antlers alone! All in all it's just another beg on the blog. All in all you're just another trick on the web.
She's been trained to "shut up" ??? Then DO IT. Geez. Just another "I'm scared" post to rake in the sympathetic dough.
"Being scolded by other adults as an adult?" Well, I'm not saying everyone should do exactly as others say (I'm extremely independent myself) but if 'everyone' is saying you should clean up your act, maybe you should listen.
Some of the comments are almost as disturbing as her post.
Even though this mentality of hers is nothing new, I still shake my head and say WTF!

DeleteEvery vet visit is a pricey visit. Never less than $100 in my experience.

I'd say over 10 years and 4 dogs I've easily spent at least $10,000 on vet bills.

I can't comment there...I used to smoke!

DeleteUgh you have a good point I used to smoke too lol
DeleteI absolutely don't care what adults do to their own bodies.
DeleteI sat through half a dozen drug charges (marijuana) in court today. What a waste of time and money.
