Butchering costs

When you work the system to offer meat shares you are raising the animal for it's owner right?

They give you the money to feed, shelter, and butcher the pig.

Why is Jenna complaining about butcher fees? She doesn't pay the butcher the owners of the animals do.

Paying for the butcher herself implies she's selling the meat which is illegal.

  1. Well, that's the idea. But in practice, everything is paid for in advance and the butchering cost should be held aside for that future expense. And we all know that isn't the way things are done at CAF.

  2. She's playing fast and loose with the rules, as usual. When she offers the shares she specifies you get 50 lbs of meat-- how is that possible? You get a SHARE of the pig, the amount can't be determined until they're butchered. And shouldn't the organ meat and bones also belong to the share owners? She keeps the hearts and livers for herself and dumps the rest in the woods...seems not only wasteful but not in keeping with concept of pigs being owned by someone else.

  3. So now her blog has devolved into daily updates on her financial situation....the truck will be at Bains in Salem HINT HINT HINT for $750 worth of repairs HINT HINT HINT.

It doesn't make for scintillating reading and tuning in to the Poverty Report will wear thin for even the most deluded fans.

    1. It's OUTRAGEOUS that she names the shop along w/exact amount owed and doesn't give a damn how clearly it looks to be a solicitation to have it "taken care of".
Quite stunning, however, that she deigned to actually thank those who put up the money for the truck in the first place. I believe she never publicly thanked them earlier, even after she wrote a paean to Kiva loans after the fact. Or routinely thanks anyone who donates to her bills, mortage, problems, crises, or down payments for property and such, and on, and on, into the foreseeable future.

  4. Come gather 'round antlers
    Wherever you roam
And admit that the truck repairs
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be begged to the bone
    If your muffler to you
    Is worth savin'
    Then you better start donatin'
Or you'll be impregnated by Gibson
For the blogs they are a-beggin'.

  5. I think her "truck repair" is actually her trying to pay her mortgage. $750 sounds about right. The silence after her last blog post is deafening...still no comments several hours after posting.

    1. I'm surprised someone hasn't called and asked if they are accepting donations on her behalf. wonder if the truck is even there or if its that amount.

  7. How much has she spent on that truck in the last six (?) months since she got it? I recall repairs to the tune of $600 when she first got a sticker, not including some minor front end work she had done. It was in the shop around the first of the year for a few hundred...a MAP sensor. Now she's dumping in another $750. Add that to the $2K purchase price....she could have just repaired the Dakota.

    1. But then she couldn't write about looking through old glass and listening to 89 in an 89...and talk about cassettes.

      She needs her props!

  8. It is hilarious how she thinks that truck makes her so edgy and cool! We aren't in high school anymore Jenna darling---no one really cares what everyone else is driving.

Really? First, f-k Jenna, not a fan.

People of all ages size each other up on all kinds of things, and vehicles are at the top of the list.

"2016 Chevrolet Corvette MSRP From: $55,400"

Lots of people care what they drive, and care what other people drive.

When I read that nonsense on the hate-Jenna site, I think, what is wrong with you people? Meredith, yea, she gets off on getting blog hits. All her non-Jenna posts go begging for comments. But the rest of you Jenna-haters, WHY?

If Jenna broke the law, call the police. Get her arrested and convicted. Otherwise, yur just blowin smoke up each others backside. Guess that feels pretty good to ya'll.

    2. Being a manipulative twat isn't against the law. We enjoy discussing it. I'm a horrible person for noticing that someone is a raging asshole and then chatting about it? Ok.

  9. Ha! Pretty fucking rich for her to tell someone else to get a job. If you don't want the bank taking pics of your house every week YOU get a job!

If your job is to drive around to people's housing who are struggling and take pictures from the road for the banks - get a new fucking job.

  10. Even if I was still a fan, which sadly I have been forced to chose to be otherwise due to her outrageous behavior, I could hardly stomach her commenting that she could never picture laughing at a home slaughter when in her own novel how somber slaughter day is on the farm.

I highly doubt she has ever blooded her delicate hands with a home slaughter.

  11. Did anyone see the tweet which she has deleted the link to: this farm needs a miracle...? Not that we probably couldn't easily pen it ourselves, knowing the lyrics and tune by heart.

I laughed out loud when I saw it earlier today, as predictable (with all the dramatic lead up of the last few days) as a waxing moon moving to full.

We've had a momentary reprieve from the newest dramatic rendition of wolves a-howl at the door. Wonder what on earth could have moved her to make it go away? A windfall of early, cash-loaded valentines drifting down from above?

  14. I'm really worried about Merlin. He stands outside day and night ("secure" shelters my ass). The weather report says it's going to be 11 below zero a couple nights from now, and 4 below the other nights. Her whole post about well meaning people misconstruing how animals are treated on farms sickened me, considering she does little to nothing to properly take care of her own.

    1. He has access to an enclosed shelter doesn't he? Between that and his winter coat I think he will be fine.

The pigs in the unenclosed pig "pagoda" structure might not make it or at the very least be extremely cold and suffer frost bite.

She defended the condition of the guys pigs at west wind acres and they had frost bite.

  15. Oh, yeah. Forgot about the pigs. She never mentions them really.

And no, Merlin does not have a proper shelter. He has a ramshackle roof she threw together a few years ago with no sides, no shelter from the wind. The least she could do is staple some tarps to the sides and throw some straw in there. Of course, she'll need a "work party" to get that done. Pathetic.

  16. The pigs will suffer the worst, roughing it in what's left of the wall-less pigoda. Merlin, having a coat, at least, is being housed with the sheep that do have a shed with sides.

    1. At least Merlin is covered head to hoof in hair.

      Pigs are basically half naked.

We know she goes day to day with hay and straw. Hope someone's helping her or doing it for her.
