Operation big guns expert #2 now in progress.
We might be pulling Canada into the mix.
Blessed!
I'm so glad I had the foresight not to move far from VA. In these technologically advanced days we live in its easy to assume everything can be done online.
Today is my 3rd trip to the Leesburg General District Court in the past 2 weeks to take care of things that must be done in person.
I would be unable to pursue this if I moved out of driving distance.
Thank God for dependable Toyota Corollas and growing up in a house where major purchases are based after consulting Consumer Reports.
Crimes committed
If someone committed a crime against you, friends, family, a loved one, or an animal do you accept dropped charges due to a turnover in staff?
Can you imagine if this was done to a rape victim? Drop charges because of a turnover in staff? What if you were robbed? What if you boarded your dog and it was neglected to death? Your child was assaulted?
Is a turnover in staff an,acceptable reason for dropping charges?
Going once going twice
Who wants a criminal animal cruelty record?
Not me.
That's the point.
How many Certified Organic, Certified Humane, and now Animal Welfare Approved farms are operating in violation of state animal welfare code?
This is a start.

The asshole in me
The asshole in me wants to publish every person and every organization that has discouraged me, purposely gave me false hope with no intention of following through, thanked me for my concern for the pigs but did nothing to help their situation. The organizations in place to help animals but don't. Authorities who swore to enforce state code, but won't.
On the other hand I want to encourage the people who take no for an answer. I've been told no more Times than I care to count. I've been made to feel ashamed or embarrassed because of my dedication and persistence.
I've been publically called a liar. A bitch. A count. Someone who shouldn't be trusted to work on farms and private properties. These words have echoed through the community I lived in for 15 years.
Add up all the pain and suffering I've experienced for speaking out for a year and a half and it isn't even a fraction of the pain and suffering a single pig experiences at Ayrshire Farm.
On March 16 Sandy Lerner will physically attend her trial.
Sandy Lerner has likely spent a similar amount on lawyers defending her and Crystal Ritenours animal abuse and neglect as she would have paying me to make this a non issue...to have a farm that is in compliance with certification standards and state code...with healthy humanely raised pigs!
Regardless of the outcome of the trial, this is just a year and a half into a lifetime journey advocating for pigs.
Every door has been not just slammed in my face but

I'm music sensitive
I hate loud music.
Some people constantly play loud music in their houses.
Feel alone in this...but I can't stand it.

Recently shorn? I think not
Someone on my Facebook assumed these alpacas had recently been shorn and was upset someone would do that in the winter.
They are sheared in May. The babies have never been sheared.
Look how much "fluff" there is! You touch them and your hand sinks it's so thick.

Hello snow!
I'm on my own farm sitting the alpacas, yaks, dogs, poultry, and cats during our first severe winter storm of the year.
I brought my 3 dogs and we are all hunkered down.
Everything shorter than 2 feet that could get lost in the snow has been moved. Hay troughs, rubber feed buckets, etc.
I think this is the yaks first snow. Excited to see then frolic.
We may get 2 feet in the next 48 hours.
What about you?

The Warm Horn
I'm such a nervous scrappy single gal the thought of locking a door just escaped me!
Good Lord we know it's easy for her livestock to get out of their "enclosure s" but to waltz in the house mid winter.

I think I've secured someone!
Couldn't be more ideal except for the travel costs involved.
I need to start fundraising and crowd funding.
This is very promising!

I will start carrying her up and down every time. Littles in one hand and Sadie in the other.

Turnover in staff?
Drop all criminal charges.
Seriously, that is the reason LCAS gave VDACS for charges not being brought against the farm.
So frustrating
The County was pursuing charges but they were dropped because a turnover In staff involved?
Interesting twist.
I'm going through FOIA documents from the Virginia Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services and found this gem.
Even on this blog I've been given a hard time. I've been told I don't have sufficient evidence, my evidence is weak, etc.
No charges by the county has NOTHING to do with insufficient evidence.
Charges were pursued because there was a clear violation of state animal welfare code.
This is why I won't stop fighting for the pigs.
I'm not delusional, I'm in the right.

Vendetta driven drama queen
It's amazing the amount of people that claim to be in it for the animals but are in it for themselves, for only certain species, not in it if their friend or associate is at fault, not in it if doing the right thing is going against popular opinion or if they don't benefit.
At first I was shocked no one at Ayrshire Farm would speak up for the pigs, they didn't want to highlight that their co-workers, boss, or the owner of the farm was in violation of state and federal law and certification standards.
Then I was shocked the certifiers standards are in fact mere suggestions and even in light of major and minor nonconformances do not remove farms from their organization.
Then Loudoun County doesn't deny abuse but trusts these criminals will stop committing crimes!
Keep in mind locals applaud the farm for their high standards in livestock raising and handling yet most had never stepped a foot on the farm and none had lived and worked on it.
Now what I'm exposing highlights a broken system run by broken people.
What I'm highlighting is...
The farm isn't doing their job.
The certification organizations aren't doing their job.
Loudoun County isn't doing their job.
The Commonwealth of Virginia isn't doing their job.
The USDA isn't doing their job.
Veterinarians who could help decline to.
Citizens who could help decline to.
The list goes on and on...
Everyone above agrees pigs were/are abused and neglected.
No one will do anything. The pigs continue to suffer.
Know who is offended? Ayrshire Farm. Humane Farm Animal Care, Oregon Tilth, Loudoun County, the Commonwealth Attorneys Office, the USDA, veterinarians sitting on their thumbs, citizens who refuse to engage.
Everyone and everything fails the pigs.
Highlighting a broken system doesn't fix anything...it causes those already down to get kicked harder for bringing to light what is wrong. People don't want to fix anything. They want to talk in circles without hurting feelings.
I'm here to hurt feelings. If you don't have thick skin you're going to,get hurt. If you are to proud to see things aren't working, you're going to get hurt. If you are a coward driven by ego and greed you are going to get hurt.
People don't want to listen. Their fragile selves get offended rather than encouraged to change, do better, fix the problem so the problem goes away!
Some people can't be silenced. I'm one of them.
So keep calling this a personal vendetta creating drama while in the same breath acknowledging this case is a clear violation of state code, that these pigs were neglected and denied medical care.
If persistence is considered a vendetta and the truth is considered drama, so be it.
This vendetta driven drama queen is here to stay.
My name is Meredith Amonson and the silent absence of suffering is my goal. Pigs not being physically abused, denied basic needs, and willfully withheld medication is my goal. Holding those responsible for crimes accountable is my goal. Highlighting the impropriety within both the public, private, and nonprofit sector is my goal.

Happy Birthday Cali!
11 years old today. Celebrated with a car ride to the alpaca farm, splitting a cheeseburger with Sheetz, and everyone (Cali, Sadie, Littles, and Sheetz) had dinner mixed with chicken dumpling soup.
Good day.
