Littles is just the sweetest little guy I could have ever asked for.

A random pull from a gassing shelter in GA...I thought I was rescuing him. I didn't know I'd end up with my first foster fail in this little chihuahua.

He's the best! (And cali and Sadie)

Maybe it's a male dog thing...or a chihuahua thing..,or just a littles thing but he's genuinely just happy.  His joy in life is me.

Calis joy in life is being outside in full prey drive mode.

Sadies doggy dementia joy in life is mindlessly licking things.

Littles is the biggest blessing.

Teeth out tongue out

Floret Flowers

Key word(s): 2 acres

http://www.floretflowers.com/about-us/our-story/

I found my direction in the midst of missing my old garden. The vegetable garden was an excuse for zinnias and sunflowers.

A joint sunflower venture between the alpaca farm and myself has been plowed.

This woman's farm and encouraging words sealed the deal. I can grow beautiful flowers too!

Flower farmer with pigs it is.

I envision flowers, tiny house, old spots.

Mystery object

I posted it on a Facebook group and they think it's a trivet.

Horse 101

Never ever stand in front of a worked up horse or pony to calm it down.

That's like standing in front of a moving train.

Non disparagement clause of a severance agreement

Always consult a lawyer before signing.

I obviously didn't sign the agreement and forfeited the severance ($) in exchange for being able to speak of my experience at Ayrshire Farm.

The Seasons of America Past

This book is an amazing read!

Only 40 pages in and my mind is blown.

Stone walls

Always heard it was back luck to take stones from a walk wall for another use.

I can't believe she's not slowly rebuilding them. Huge asset to a property.

To tattoo or not to tattoo?

I think white tattoos are gorgeous.

I don't have any tattoos. Do you?

What are they of and what's the story behind it?

I've been toying with getting a white one on my forearm.  It would be of an object my dad found metal detecting in the yard. I have no idea what it is or its purpose but love it.

Clipping alpaca teeth.

Alpacas don't have top teeth. Its important to check that the bottom teeth don't grow past the top gum as it leads to difficulty grazing.

This nifty machine does the job.

Patience

To the reader concerned about the handling of alpacas.

Here's the same alpaca after shearing.  Notice we aren't dragging her by the halter or or any part of her body.  After realizing she wasn't budging  I gave her a few encouraging pushes which got her up and through the gate (while steering clear of her back legs after she stood up!)

She just doesn't get it

"Are Pet People, Animal Lovers, and Animal Rights Activists something to worry about? Yes."

Yes. These 3 qualities make excellent farmers who will farm you under the table. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Flowers Farm!

Love this!

Flowers and pumpkins...be still my heart.

It's official

Littles is toothless.

16 extractions today.

While not all teeth were bad he, like most adult/senior Chihuahuas, has horrible and rapidly advancing dental disease.  Maintaining his oral health has resulted in nearly yearly dental procedures and extractions.  Not knowing his exact age in combination with a heart murmur makes the procedure requiring anesthesia increasingly risky.

This veterinarian suggested a full extraction and I agreed.

Looking forward to picking my little guy up tonight and relieved there are no more dentals in his future!

So spoiled

This not far from the region where I lived from age 15 on.

The geography of the Appalachian mountain, the blue ridge, the historical buildings, tidy and absolutely stunning farms...

This would be amazing for pigs

Pasture, woods, and ponds.

By the look of those deer acorns are plentiful.

No primary residence  which I think is a bonus.

Wonder if they'd be interested in a farming lease...

Heathen hissy fit

I was blocked from the heathen reddit forum for hurting Jennas feelings.

They'll figure it out soon enough.

Dentals make me cry

Littlest is about to have his last dental. This little guy has had about 4 maybe 5 since I've had him.

All run about $500. Sometimes more.

This wham bam thank you mam estimate is upwards of $800.

Worth it for the little guy.

Should have got the property first then fostered dogs. The tens of thousands of dollars I've spent on these canine buddies would have been a hell of a downpayment...then again I wouldn't have the daily joy of my little canine crew.

A small part of me thinks Ill never get my hands on the trial transcripts.

Home(in)steading

Don't know what it means but I like it.

How's everyone doing?

Cemetery Gardening

Imagine paying respects to a loved one and picking a cucumber or cutting zinnias while you're at it!

Community garden meets community cemetery.
