That's perfect. She will stay in your lives, so you get to visit and see her grow up, but she'll actually belong to a relative. Sounds like a happy ending for everyone.
Agree. I literally am 100% not a puppy person. No part of wants to raise or even be around puppies for an extended period of time. I feel like an asshole but it's true.
No not an asshole! After our last dog died, I wanted an older dog. But after several options fell through we ended up with a 13 - wk puppy right when I started an academic program and we put our house on the market. I kept thinking I can't do all 3, but when I saw her little white nose stripe glowing from across the room, I couldn't give up on her. (We ended up moving into a rental while we were trying to sell - much easier to show the house.) Not having kids of my own, she became like a child--and so glad to have had her during those early months even leash training her in the bitter col d! She just turned 4 and although she has her issues, I can't imagine life without her. That said, I remember being grateful that we didn't have her from week's 8 through 13. The thought of 5 more weeks of raising a puppy was exhausting! Of course, for me memory fades and I like the idea of guiding a dog through those early phases to get a good start in training but mostly that time is for playing and peeing, so his mom isn't missing too much but it's nice you have some time to enjoy her.
Good for you! Unless it's a serious insanely tugging at the heart strings situation there won't be any puppies in my future.
...then again I'm sleeping with my head in between pillows and doing 5 am potty breaks already...how someone can sleep through such howling is beyond me.
I actually had the same thing happen after my last dog died. I did NOT want another dog, but then somehow we ended up falling for a eight-week old pup. The first three days I thought I would not be able to handle it, but luckily he potty trained FAST and always had a calm disposition...not much chewing or digging ever happened. We got lucky, most puppies are much more work than he was.
So are you and/ or your boyfriend keeping Stella? She sure is adorable!
ReplyDeleteMe? Absolutely not.
DeleteHim? ...until his mom is ready for her
(Sheetz and Stella have matching collars...if that relays anything)
I over dosed on puppies when fostering...give me a super senior (expect I already have 3).

DeleteI love my dogs emormously and never want to be without at least one. But I CANNOT stand raising puppies.

ReplyDeleteAt least he's an easy keeper. This puppy mostly follows Sheetz around so there's that going for her. They also play quite a bit.
DeleteMeredith - You are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Without Eddie around I rarely get compliments these days. Very sweet of you.
DeleteNot the original commenter but I was also going to write, you look great! Everyone should get to enjoy compliments :)
