Please share the page I have created to highlight the abuse at Ayrshire Farm. I will create summaries of historical issues with supporting evidence, provide updates, and let you know how you can help.

Please like the page if you feel comfortable doing so. Every like is encouragement.

  1. I never knew it was possible for a pig to be bone-thin like that. :( :( :(

  2. This is horrible! I can't believe they passed inspection. What is wrong with these people?

  3. Did you send these pictures to animal control??? I can't believe they'd ignore this.

  4. Is Crystal responsible for their care? That's criminal behavior. Aren't there other people working there that are disturbed about this?

    1. She is large livestock manager and a licensed vet tech in Virginia. No. No one is concerned enough to speak.out or stand against it. I received anonymous complaints from coworkers in other departments who.witnessed physical abuse but knew they would be terminated for speaking up. The field staff are all (except for one) illegal.immigrants who couldn't care less and readily contribute to the abuse. Upper management and HR are in on it. The Farm owner acknowledges these issues and keeps the entire staff employed (except for me...I was terminated for speaking up). It is sadistic.

Loudoun county animal care and control turns a blind eye and humane farm animal.care founder Adele Douglas is in cahoots with farm owner Sandy Lerner.

      It is truly disgusting.

  5. This is more horrifying and heartrending than I could have imagined. How people could allow this is unimaginable. Please, anyone with a twitter account, tweet this or request retweets (however it works) to your account and everyone you can think of - every celebrity who purports to support animal welfare. I'm sure there are lists. Make this go viral!!!!

    1. Please. Please please help. I can't do this as a sole voice and I am up against huge barriers of political corruption. I can't rest until the abuse stops and the individuals are held accountable.

  7. Wow. I really don't know anything about pigs, but even I can see the horrible neglect.

An animal control officer looked at this and thought it was ok?

    That is just heartbreaking. :(

  8. What about a local news station? You know, those investigative reports they do? They take a problem, research it and them try to go talk to the people involved. Sounds silly, but if you can find a sympathetic local news station to expose it........

  9. Ryan Gosling

Earlier this month, Gosling wrote an op-ed for The Globe and Mail. Rather than promoting his latest movie, the article took a stand against the horrifying conditions in which commercial animals are kept before they meet the unfortunate fate of becoming our food.

Pigs in tiny crates suffer beyond anything most of us can easily imagine, wrote Gosling. They are unable even to turn around for weeks at a time, so that their muscles and bones deteriorate. And these extremely social and intelligent animals lose their minds from being denied any social or psychological stimulation at all.

I applaud NFACC [Canada’s National Farm Animal Care Council] for working to improve life for Canada’s pigs, and I join Farm Sanctuary and Humane Society International in asking that it close this dangerous loophole by prohibiting the pork industry from confining pigs for weeks at a time – something I would never dream of doing to George, and that no compassionate Canadian would ever do to any animal.

(Stand with Ryan Gosling and help pigs in tiny crates by signing this Care2 petition.)

  10. Ellen DeGeneres

There are dozens of reasons to love Ellen DeGeneres, not the least of which is the fact that she makes pet care and animal rights issues a regular element of her television show. Initiatives to find animals loving homes appear regularly on the Ellen website, and in 2008, she became part owner of Halo, a world-renowned holistic pet care products company.

  11. What about Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) out of Bethesda? I think they are a bit extreme, but what the hell.

  12. Oh, and do they sell to Whole Foods? If so, then tell Whole Foods too.

  13. What if you called somebody at a place like this and asked them what else you can do to stop such abuse? http://www.ethicalfarms.org/

  14. Have you tried to write something for Huffington Post? Maybe a bigger pig raising article and use that farm as a example of wrong?

  16. Yeah, I have also heard of the NBC News Investigations. That is what you need. You have the video they would need. Can you contact Anna Schecter - the woman who did that article on Tyson Foods Pig care policies? This is even more dramatic b/c its a high-class woman and a certified organic farm.......

  18. As someone pretty unfamiliar with pig care, I'd recommend adding some commentary or explanations to what you've posted on FB and the youtube videos. Emaciated pigs are easy to spot, but the two piglets (to me) look like they're happily munching on a squash in the sun. It's clear that you mean to show something wrong with their ears, but I don't know what that is. There are a lot of people out there that will care about this issue, but don't know a hoot about pig husbandry and need to be told more clearly what the problem is. Why are the pigs so emaciated? What could be done that isn't being done? What are the standards that aren't being followed?

    1. I will...as time allows. The smaller one in the video has an untreated prolapsed rectum the other emaciated from delayed treatment of parasites.

  19. Same person here...I take back most of what I just wrote. The gofund me site has lots of info, and FB has more than I realized. Mostly the youtube videos that could use some commentary/explanations in their descriptions.

    1. Died of neglect after withholding treatment, died after treatment was given too late, survived after withholding treatment but recovered once treatment started.
