Confused

...concerning late payments be it truck, phone, credit card or loan. If you skip, miss, or pay one late the following bill will be double...maybe more to include a penalty fee.If you pay only ONE bill amount, be it the late or current...the next bill will still reflect the double bill.  Unless post  payment your account balance is zero...you still owe and are not caught up.

Is that not how it works for other people?

  1. That's how it works over here as well. You know, in reality.

I read "that post" to my husband and that was the point he was stuck on more than anything. But by her own admission she - wait, I need to go grab the exact quote - "was thinking that as long as I was paying something I would placate the banks until I had the money to pay them off." ??? How do you get to be thirty years old and not grasp basic life things?

  2. Ooh and one more thing: between this blog and Kelpie's, I've come to realize that people who are actually farming? Don't have time to write 1000+ word blog posts per day. I'm not slamming anyone who writes that much, more power to them, it's just that the last few days I've come out of a naïveté of my own regarding Real Farming vs Storybook Farming. And despite what J @ CAF has said in the past, I'm not calling her "not a real farmer" because of the size of her operation. I'm calling her "not a real farmer" because of her priorities.

I feel like more than a bit of an idiot for falling for the Storybook Farming for so long. Thanks for snapping me out of it and making me realize that I enjoy a bit of veg gardening here and there and nothing more.

  3. The more I read those "cry wolf" blog posts, the more I think she's full of sheep chit. Seriously, she got through to the bank on a Sunday? Let me hit the adoring reader panic button to rake in a breathing cushion overnight.....she's a fantasy writer, I'll give her that much. Jessica is dead-on....anyone who's really working a farm, or even tending house or homestead, knows that many days we're lucky we have time to pee, let alone play with hawks, go for pony rides, or write long-winded blog posts.

Gotta love this scam: she posts this one-liner on FB: "Things just got terrifying." One line that shook her adoring fans to the core. "Ooh, poor Jenna, what's wrong?? Ooh, how can we help?" Even one fan wrote: "Come on now everyone can subscribe for at least $3 and if everyone does that, we can help Jenna survive!" As is her usual MO, she deleted any dissenting comments -- remember, only lovey-dovey enabling comments allowed! And voila! Once she got her overnight haul, she yanked down the original panic post.

    Phony.

  4. Elaine- I was going to put in my first post "I'm really truly thinking this is a scam of epic proportions, mostly so I can sleep at night knowing there aren't actually people in the world this frakking terrible with money." Hearing about that FB post, however...ugh. Incredible. I wondered why she was slow in posting on the blog; because she has FB to use as a cry for help.

Enablers, enablers, enablers. Wow. And your line about "she's a fantasy writer." Yup. But really...is she making everything up you think? Or is this all 100% real *and* she's using the blog/FB as a way to continue her irresponsible lifestyle with the added benefit of boosting her narcissism with adoration and pity?

  5. I've followed her blog for a long time, and her "stories" pass no credible smell test. All those animals she keeps - they have to eat, don't they? She has utility bills? Mortgage and truck payments? Are the property taxes included in her mortgage or paid to the town? Farm insurance, yes? Repairs, maintenance? Those are just the essentials and absolutes. Like I said earlier, anyone who lives in reality and deals with the challenges of farm/home ownership know full well that most days it's not a pony ride through the tulips.

I could never rationalize her actions, let alone explain them. It's just a shame that folks get conned into her "woe is me" game, and more often than not, her animals pay the price as well....now Jasper has become expendable at the expense of keeping Merlin, the toy, who she's STILL paying off. It would be the same as if someone owned a jalopy that was free and clear, sturdy and did the job, but sold it for $100 in order to keep the Corvette that still had a 4-year note attached...."but look at me being fiscally smart!! I'm going to get rid of the jalopy!" Fans: "Oh Jenna, you go girl!"

  6. I think it is a scam, cause what "real" farmer has time to float down a river, end up 14 miles off track, thumb their way home and not freak that the animals are late getting fed and poor goats are probably sooo full of milk they're either squirting or screaming.

And, now she's going to raise pasture pigs. What a laugh. I'll lay bet that the crappy pen they threw up won't last a week. Did anyone notice in the photo that the horse barn only has two sides? So that project isn't even finished.

  7. A friend got me to start reading Jenna's cold antler I guess just around the time she was thinking or talking about merlin as she wanted to know my own thoughts on it(given that I am small homesteader that blogs as well) and wow, I do read her blog, its like a live soap, but I don't have to pay LOL

Just this week, she told me about your site, and I had a poke around, I have to admit that I agree with pretty much the things you are saying and pointing out..

Right up to the point, you said a real farmer can't do the fun things..

Now, let me straight up say, a) hubby has a full time off farm job that pays all the bills, the truth is, anything the farm makes is a bonus over and above feed ourselves the best food possible.

But having said that, I am home on the farm full time, and do find time to write on my own blog a lot (and my hubby who is also a published writer, finds time to work full time, farm part time and write)

Currently this summer, I have been on average around 22km per week on horseback, we have found time to take mini afternoon summer fun breaks, have a once a week game night (which is done by Skype and starts later to let us get evening chores done and because we could not drive to the meets.

Now for myself, I love to take photos, post on the blog and for little things on my facebook page, but my own trick is simple, I have a list of things that need to be done and writing is my reward.. don't get that stall cleaned, can't post a photo.. didn't get that garden area done and that x canned up, can't blog yet..

It has gotten to the point it helps feed each other, what I do on the farm, gardens, critters help create the posts, and the post are a creative outing to connect off the farm with folks that share a interest in it.

    just my two cents
