This little boar was starving in a space with 17 sows and a boar.
He simply could not fight for the food with 500 plus lb competition.
Mixing breeding and market pigs for q week before the market pigs go to slaughter rather than fix the fence of the breeding group.
Never unnecessarily mix pigs.
These much older much larger potential breeding gilts beat the shit out of the market pigs. These pigs were terrorized for a week before they went to slaughter. Why? Staff was too lazy to fix the fence of the breeding group so moved them in with the market pigs.
This is neglect, unconscionable, bad for the meat and bad financially as they immediately stop putting weight on when they are under so much stress.
When pigs fight there is little you can do. Mixing them unnecessarily is unethical.
This was immediately brought to the large livestock managers attention. She didn't give a shit.
I did my best to encourage one group to go in a hut on one side of the field and another group in a hut around the barn and feed them in separate groups for the week.
The gilts kicked the market pigs out of their hut.
There was mass confusion, stress, fighting etc. All could have been avoided with a hour of fence checking and reinforcing.
Healthy but dead piglets.
Horrific farrowing practices.
Not giving sow space to adequately nest, not giving sow access to nesting materials, not giving sow space away from other sows, not tracking sows for mothering and breeding sows that crush will their piglets, moving sows (even trailering) just before, DURING, and just after farrowing.

Highly irritating leading to scratching and causes massive and severe open wounds.
Refusal to treat. Refusal to quarantine infected pigs.
Unethical.
Neglect.
Willful neglect.
Refusal to treat this painful infection that could easily swiftly and effectively be treated.
Another pig, 6 months before the last 2 pigs. Nothing new for this hell hole excuse for a "certified humane" farm. Operating outside of VA state animal welfare code.

Willfully denied medical care or veterinary treatment despite the dozens of pigs that have died of coccidia before this one.
This is unconscionable.
